No. The female bettas will not fight. And they dont particularly like small closed in tanks. Bettas can live healthy in big or small tanks. The thing is, in a small tank you have to do water changes and all kinds of things often and most people get lazy and dont do that. With bigger tanks you dont have to do as much mantenence and they can swim around more so they are happier. *someone said they like small tanks. Just letting you know the truth about that* I think all fish would be happier with other fish *even male bettas. They just have to be put in a specalized community tank* The females do not fight. I think it is a very good idea to put another female betta in with it. Good luck with your fish.

Betta are not social fish. The only mode of social interaction is threat displays. All bettas fight with other betta. Female are less aggressive than males, but will still fight. A pair very bad as one will be always picking on the other. 3 is better as it spreads thing out more. Personally 5 gallons is just too small for multiple females.
PS- You'll have better lucky with non bettas. Try a platty, danio, or cory cat.

Maybe, maybe not. I have three females in a tank right now and they all get along great. But, I've also had females in tanks together that didn't get along at all.
As long as you keep an eye on them for the first few days, and have some way to separate them if they do start fighting, I would say give it a try (unless it is brutal, give them a few days... they will probably try to figure out who is going to be the boss.) You won't know if they will get along until you put them together.
Nice looking bettas. If you ever breed them, let me know if you get any males that look like the father. :)

I think that male betas are the ones that fight, not females. She may like another fish, but I don't think she would mind being alone. The male wouldn't mind either. Just remember that you need to have enough room for both of them, which it seems you do. I think it's a good idea. Go ahead, and good luck :)

Aww, she is cute... your female betta wont mind having company, but they are also happy alone. Is up to you and if the tank is big enough where they can both have their own space. 5 gal tank is big enough, but i dont know if you have other fish. Females don't fight like males do. However, I'll advise against dumping the male w her, as the male will chase her around and may even kill her.... they are not very bright and takes them a while to figure out they are females and can kill them if the tank is too small or they arent in breeding season. In the wild, males and female bettas look identical!

Males have a stronger tendency to fight to the death, but females will fight if they are in too close of a closed in environment. If the tank is five gallons they'll probably be okay, just don't put a third in. To play it safe i'd consider just putting tropical fish like neons, platies, guppies, etc. in there with her. Better safe than sorry.

Nice looking bettas! I would suggest you either have one or over three females in a tank. Females will establish a pecking order in the tank and with only two one will get beaten very badly.

Female bettas are also kept seperate in pet stores for a reason, males will fight with males and the same applies for females. Also after one female has mated with the male, the male will preceed to kill to the female. So if i were you i would just keep your male betta alone or with just 1 female if you think you are ready to sacrifice it. Know that betta fish are not community fish they hate other fish and will try to pull off their fins among other things lol

Beta fish are solitary creatures and prefer their own company. The best way to keep them is own their own in a small tank (not too bit or they easily get spooked).
