The bigger the better I think. Depending on how big your females are will determine how many babies they will have. Guppies can use the inch of fish rule (1 inch per gallon) so if you have 10 baby fry use 15-20 gallons (each fish full grown 1.5-2 inches). I've had very small females give birth to only 2 fry and larger ones who will have 6 possibly more. I never separate my adult fish from the fry and fry hide in plants, dart around and swim fast. I figure if they get eaten they aren't as good of a fish (survival of the fittest). If you separate females from males you can choose which males you want to reproduce and put them with the females in about a month you will have offspring from your favorite male. If you want to insure your new fry to survive try a larger tank to hold your adult guppies and put expecting mothers in the 5 gallon with a fry trap so mom doesn't eat them. This link has a nursery for two mothers:

Have fun, guppies are great. Mine are getting more colorful with each new batch of fry. I have been keeping guppies for a little over a year.

What other tank? The birthing tank or a new tank big enough for all the fish? And it's not really a question of if they get pregnant because they will and they will give birth every month. If you are asking about a birthing tank then another 5 gallon tank would be fine but if you are talking about a bigger tank to hold them all then it depends on how many of the babies you plan on keeping. The adults will eat the fry if there isn't enough cover for them to hid, like in plants so if you don't want to upgrade then just let the parents eat all the babies. If you want to keep all the babies then no matter what size tank you get it will always become too full since the females will constantly have more babies unless you either cull them or give them away.

the likely case is that your adult males could overstress the girls, till you acquire a minimum of 6 extra is extra perfect, and that they could die. And along with your tank length you dont have room for that many. what's on your 50 gallon? whether it is an area tank you need to place the guppies in that and use the 5 gallon as a fry tank. some signs and warning signs that the girls will provide start quickly are moving off by skill of themselves darkening of the lines around the scales and squaring of the tummy, whilst the sq. up they could drop their fry interior 40 8 hours. as to whilst the fry can pass with the different fish, as quickly as they're sufficiently massive to no longer fit in the different fishes mouths is the genneral rule for community tanks 4-6 weeks or so on standard.

5 gallon tank should be fine for 1 male & 2 female Guppy. Most likely none of the baby guppy will survive if you keep the young ones with their parents. Adult Guppy will usually eat their babies unless you separate them immidiately after birth.
Anyway if you intent to raise just 10-20 young ones, a 10 gallon tank would be sufficient... unless you want to breed them to sell.

I don't know but I remember I had around 6 guppies when I was little and I don't think any of them ever got pregnant. I don't know if they were male or female though. When I first got them in first grade and we didn't have a tank I kept on taking them out and putting them on the table. I was stupid. The tank I had wasn't very big but it only held 6 guppies. sorry I couldn't help.

If you want to provide a number of fish with a good home, get a 20 long. Later you can upgrade to a 29 and use the same hood and stand as the 20 long.
You can house one typical guppy per 1.5 gallons of water.

About five gallons depending on how many fry you are expecting. This can be determined by the age of the pregnant guppies. The older, the more fry. Hope this helps!!!! :0)
