You can return the dead fish for an exchange within 7 days, but it is a huge hassle. I had some very sick neons from there many years ago, however I had 4 wonderful Corydoras aeneus from there that they sold me for only $1.33 each and I've had them for several years. They have bred with others from a local fish store. Generally speaking, you will not get that lucky 99% of the time.

It depends on the store policy. At Petland they usually have a 48-hour policy, and you must bring in your receipt and a small sample of the tank's water in a separate container. If you can't get back to the store too soon, call them and let them know. Then put the dead fish in the freezer until you can return to the store. Many fish die soon after purchase because they are weak from poor handling when shipped to the store,or because the customer doesn't acclimate them properly.Mostly, they will give you a store credit, but not a refund.

Yeah, you can. We've done that before. Yeah, Wal-Mart really isn't that great with fish. I think the reason they die a lot is whenever people take 'em outside, I mean throught their automatic doors, the sensors on the auto doors emit some kind of radiation that gets to the fish and kills 'em eventually, but that's just what my grandma says. But yeah, you can return them. If you buy any other fish from Wal-Mart or any other place, don't take them through automatic doors.

You can return them, they have a 7 day policy with a receipt. Al posted here, Wal-Mart is a poor place to get fish. They problem is they filter all the tanks in their display through a central filteration system. Do, if they, by chance get ick in one of their tanks (they almost always do BTW) it's in all their tanks. They also turn their fish so fast, and have no quarantine tanks, that sick fish are sold before they show obvious symptoms, leaving them to get sick and die in your tank. Often infecting your other fish as well. I would strongly recommend you set up a quarantine tank for your fish and keep them there for a couple weeks befor you put them in your main tank, if you want to keep buying fish at Wal-Mart.

Yes you can return it. Just bring in your receipt and sometime you have to bring in the fish. I worked at a small pet shop where we had a return policy of 14 days. You had to bring in your receipt, the dead fish, and a water sample so that we could test your water to make sure that your levels were ok. I wouldn't buy fish from walmart but tetras are known to be hearty fish so you should be ok.

Yeah you can get a refund. I used to work at customer service in Wal-Mart and lots of people would return dead ones. You can only return them if they die within a certain amount of time. I think it's around a week. If they die after that they still might return them, just talk to a manager, they can pull more strings.

I have never bought fish at Wal-Mart, but, in the beginning, I did buy fish from Petsmart and Petco and they both will accept returned dead fish if they died within a certain period of time. One month? I don't remember the time-frame. I don't buy from anyone other than reputable local fish stores ("LFS") who specialize only in fish. But, Petco and Petsmart both advised me upon purchase of these terms and any store who does this should as well. Wal-Mart should give you a refund, but you will need to have your receipt showing date of purchase. And from now on, choose to give your business to reputable LFS! Good luck!

I think that there is a week "warranty." Not exactly sure though, but depending on when you got them you could possibly. Not sure if you would have to show the dead fish, but maybe just a receipt. If this happens, I would call and talk to customer service before doing anything else.

You should get your fish from Petsmart because they live longer. I just got 3 neon tetras, 3 glowlight tetras, 2 algae eaters, 2 fancy female guppies, 1 fancy male guppy, and 3 sunset coral dwarf platy and they are doing great. Yes, you can return them with a reciept I heard and get another one for free.
