I would not try it. Personally, I feel that goldfish and Bettas should not be kept in bowls, either. It is too hard to keep water quality high in a small bowl with no filtration and these fishes lives are shortened from the stress of living in such a polluted, low oxygen environment.

With a clownfish (which is a saltwater fish) you have additional issues. Ammonia, the waste product of a fish, is actually more toxic at a given concentration in salt than fresh water. Also, unlike freshwater fish, many of whom are used to daily fluctuations in water parameters in the streams and rivers they are from, salt fish are used to a very consistent environment. A small volume of water such as a bowl is very diffcult to keep stable and unpolluted, even for experienced aquarists. Bottom line is that it will be impossible to keep the clownfish alive for long in a bowl even though some freshwater fish can tough it out for awhile.

My recommendation is that you get at least a ten gallon aquarium with a heater and filter to keep one or two small clowns in. Please do some research on keeping saltwater fish before you buy any. I recommend www.wetwebmedia.com as a great starting point. Joyce Wilkerson's book on Clownfish is also excellent.

A clown fish wouldn't last 5 minutes in a bowl of water. Especially since it is not made to live in freshwater. And you have no way of maintaining salt levels in a bowl.

No they need a filter, heater, and complex water treatment. A betta is one of the few fish that can live in a bowl. Even then they need very frequent water changes and temps in the 75-85. A 2.5-5 gallon tank is easier to maintain, and the betta will live for several years longer.

No. Not inless you have a giant fish bowl. Clown Fish need room to grow. Lots of room to grow. The need an aquarium with a filtering system, and cave, or plants; they like to hide sometimes.

a clown fish is a salt water fish, and with that said most fish bowls are fresh water. that is because it is hard to clean them and you can't easily put a filter on a bowl

NO!!! They have to live in a saltwater aquarium with a filter running. Please do some research before you purchase any saltwater fish, they require a lot more than a fish bowl.

Don't think so... they're tropical fish, and would die without the proper salt water and heat for the water...which sadly is difficult to equip to a fishbowl...
