I took my dog out today & she was attacked by a Staffie...the other dog had my dog clamped shut....her head in its mouth....I hit the dog with my fist & a stone...it was very frightning...the owner of the dog was nasty & said it was only playing....!!!!!....my dog was yelping with pain...I still feel shook up...how can I stop this from happening again????....shall I carry a small knife with me when I go out????....please advise me...

I have always wanted a dog but my mom doesnt like dogs. I am 16 right now and she tells me I can get a dog after I finish college. Thats way too long. How do I convince her to get me a dog???Also we live in an apartment but I am ready to take the dog for a daily walk of 30 minutes or so. My cousin has a lab and she lives in an apartment too. I have tried telling my mom that I dont want such a big dog as she is quite scared of my cousin's lab. But its not working. Can you help me???

Whenever we put clothes on my puppy he becomes real quiet, and less hyper then he usually is. I was wondering why he does this? Our other three labs don't do this.

I moved up here 6 years ago, and right away started finding abused and abandoned dogs, finding the local animal shelter a sub-standard environment, (Quebec has the worst animal rights laws ever) I started re-habilitating all the dogs that come to my door and finding homes for them! I find homes for about 6 dogs a year on avrage, not to mention the scores of cats. I find kittens in the woods all the time. WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS!!!!DO THEY REALIZE THAT DOGS AND CATS ARE NOT WILD ANIMALS? 3 weeks ago I found a hugely pregnant female, it was sub-zero tempratures, I tracked down the owner, I gave him a peice of my mind, ya know what he said! natural selection! as if an animal is natural when it has been removed from nature for thousands of generations. what is wrong with people and why do they insist on being jerks to something that only wants to love them!!!

We have a 6 month old GSP, a hyper active hunting dog. We want to get her a friend but our first attempt failed. It wasnt our dogs fault but the new puppy was very antisocial and would attack our dog all the time. The new one doesnt like people either. But we want one that will like...play with the GSP and not bite her. GSPs are medium sized dogs so we dont want a little lap dog or a lazy *** dog. we want to be able to take it hunting and riding with us.

He feel over on hsi right side and was unable to make himself get back on his feet. He then went to the bathroom and seemed to be out of it.

We washed him and feed him and he is now ok, but wondering what symptoms of a stroke are for dogs?

I love my pittie! and I trust him, when he came to me he was a shattered wreck of a dog, and violent! but after just a fewmonths he showed progress. now he's 10 and he loves cats and dogs and kids and people, a really happy normal dog, when he came to me he would attack and try to kill almost every thing, I almost put him down! but he does't even look the same now! he was feed beer and made to fight and had a violent owner... so what is it, really, is it nature or nurtue? Can a dog be born Bad? or is it the owners fault?

All of a sudden this morning my 16 wk old Lhasa puppy keeps circling chasing his tail and yelping in pain.

He's never chased his tail just for the fun of it... and now he's doing it but yelping.

Sometimes he'll drag his behind legs forward, then start kicking backward

Does this mean he has constipation, or more serious problem in his behind?

I checked but don't see anything visibly wrong.

About 10 minutes ago, my 5 month old English Bulldog put a chocolate covered raisin into his mouth, he didnt have a chance to bite it, or swallow any of it, but im sure he licked it. Will be be ok?
