All of a sudden this morning my 16 wk old Lhasa puppy keeps circling chasing his tail and yelping in pain.

He's never chased his tail just for the fun of it... and now he's doing it but yelping.

Sometimes he'll drag his behind legs forward, then start kicking backward

Does this mean he has constipation, or more serious problem in his behind?

I checked but don't see anything visibly wrong.

Actually, although I was thinking constipation or obstruction, come to think of it, every bowel movement is DIARRHEA (which he on meds for)

If it is his anal glands, wouldn't they be visibly swollen?

He's had diarrhea since I got him a week ago. He's been on meds 2-3 days now... getting a little more formed.

I have him on Royal Canin Puppy Mini food.

I was giving him his pills hidden in Canine Carry Outs treats. I just switched to Liverwurst to hide them in.

It sounds like you dog might have an infection in his anal glands. It's a pretty painful ordeal that can be harmful if untreated, but your vet should be able to help him out - his glands need to be examined and probably drained (the smell is disgusting) please don't attempt anything on your own, as you may risk making him worse (and it might be something entirely else wrong with him, although I think I'm right)
Take him into the vet Monday sometime, and see if they can't make him feel all better.

Well in my experience with that in a vets office i would say possibly 2 things that come to mind. One being since he is a puppy has he been dewormed? They tend to chase their behinds/tails and drag on the carpet. Look in the stool for things that look like white pieces of rice. That would be a tapewrom, very common. Easy to get. But can be taken care of easy. The other thing could be he is having a problem with his anal glands. They could be full and need to be squeezed or a infection in there. But take him to the vet they will know for sure!

It could be constipation. Or an obstruction. Got to a vet this is not at all natural. This could be really serious, I know its sunday but check the yellow pages for emergency clinics or call 411 and ask for a clinic in your area.

It does sound like constipation. You should have him checked out by a vet as quickly as possible ... constipation can turn into a serious condition for him.

There could be a serious problem, even though you don't see anything doesn't mean it is not there. I would first call the vet and let him/her know how the dog is acting, and let them decide from there.

if constapation is the problem, take your dog to a grass field, dogs use grass as a laxitive.

if it is not that he may have gotten bitten by something, or even sat on something sharp. I would go to a vet.

im sorry about your puppy!

i would suggest openning up your yellow pages and calling a local vet. you dont have to make an appointment necessarily, they may be able to diagnos and suggest a fix to the problem over the phone.
