I've heard that its because they are growing.
I've checked my dogs when they were puppies and I thought it was because they were cold or something but I put blankets and stuff and it wasn't that. Does anyone know? Or have encountered with this too?

Just a random question. =)

My 13 year old Yorkie has knee problems. Vet says there's no arthritis but her knee joints pop out if she's overactive or jumps/fallsor slips etc. It's pretty horrific to see and painful for the dog. We try to prevent it happening (no walking up stairs etc) but she's a very fit active dog and even walks with the joint popped out. We're wary of doing anything that might make things worse but we bought dog shoes (ridiculous I know) which prevent her slipping/falling and seem to help stop it happening when she's being very active but......is there any way we can support her knees? I'm thinking humans have support bandages - would they work on dogs?

My neighbour (she) took care of a dog for someone as they were unstable accomodation wise and offered to pay for the care of the dog with food etc.
She has had the dog for 2 years with nothing paid for on the care side by the official owners.
The official owners have not bothered with the dog in care or love but the dog has just had pups and the official owners want a pup for free even though they have not taken back the dog or helped care for it.
If my neighbour does not give them a pup for free then they have threatened to take the dog back even though it is still an unstable home.
My neighbour does not want them to really have either as there is no dog care at all there. They say (no proof) that the dog is chipped and wont give the authority to change the chip details until she socums to giving them their free pup.
My neighbour wants to keep the dog and sell them a pup if they want a pup but not a freebie if push comes to shove and get the dog re chipped as her dog any idea?

Holly is a 3yr old staffy. We have had her for a year and don't know how to deal with her problem. She is terrified of rain beating on the windows and doors. She starts panting heavily, shakes and just won't settle. She sometimes runs upstairs and hides in the bedroom. She was a rescue dog so we have no idea of her background but she obviously had a nasty experience. At this moment it is raining, not heavily, but she is unnerved, unsettled and just sitting in the middle of the dining room floor shifting from foot to foot. We have been told not to fuss her as this is telling her it's OK to be frightened, but how else can we help her?

My Bichon Frise is having what I think is an anal sac problem. I think one of the sacs may have burst as she has developed an open sore just beneath her anus on the right side. A few days earlier she was scooting on the rug. She have not seen her have a bm today and her adomen seems swollen. Is there a home remedy? I've tried expressing her glans but have never hit "gold". Is there a home remedy? I've shaved the area, put iodine on the sore and a salve antibiotic I had for an eye problem. I also put baby teething gel on to relieve pain. Anything else?

well i got a dog nearly three year ago when his mum gave birth of six i fell in love with this one pup. i would pick him up play with him and he would fall asleep in my lap alot aswell. we own his mum like you know. for the time being i called him spot because he had a brown spot on his head on a white bit. my dad told me not to get close because i was not having him. as the mouths when by the pups was getting sold but we still had spot. in the end i had him because no one want to buy him because i told them he was a bad pup so i could have him and it worked:) it is a good thing i know but i want to know why he does it. i feed him play with him walk him buy his food pay for his jabs and every thing. but why does he only listen to me when my dad tells him to sit he just stands their looking at me. then when i tell him to sit he does just like that and if my dad tells him to come he stands thier looking at me until i tell him. i like that he only listens to me but why?

i took my westie to vet as she was behaving really odd. he took note of symptoms - sctratching (like digging a hole) eating less for a bit then gorging, and sleeping at dif times, also she had become "odd" (just generally not herself!)
he said she was pregnant but couldnt feel anything at approx 6wks. so is she really pregnant? he said to wait and see!!!!!!
