with your answer could you give any good names for a male dog so far i have thought of harvy and hamish.

I have a schnauzer and its the nicest dog i've had. Not sure what are 'good' names for dogs, but of the male dogs i've kept they've been called Saber, Rocky, Thomas and Rupert (lol!). A friend of ours had a lovely westie called Jack. Although Hamish and Harvy are good names. Think about what's easy to call when you're calling the dog to you.

My sister has a Westie called Westie (not very original I'm afraid) Hamish is grand though.

My favorite is a good working line German Shepherd. I also love Pyrenean Shepherds. I don't think I could live without a good, psychotic Border Collie. :) I also like Afghan Hounds, Malinois', Beaucerons, Dobermans, black Standard Poodles, and a black and white Shih-Tzu in full show coat. (Most of these breeds, I will probably never own, but will only admire when I see them).
I saw someone else suggested Alfie for your dog. I think that is an adorable name.

My last dog was a cross Yorshire terrier and a poodle she was bigger than a Westie her breed was a Yorkydoodle lol

Mines are staffordshire bull terriers. As i have one and she is the most cutest dog you have ever seen. A name for a dog it could be Scotty because you have a wee westie lol

..I really do not have a favourite breed,but I did own 2 westies,a male named Marty,a female named Casey ,names sort lust come to you as you observe their acts,try not to name your westie a Scottish name,be original,I like people names but however I now own a american bulldog and his name is Tonka,he is big and strong just like the trucks!!!!!! good luck on finding a name for your westie!!!!

well I just love all dogs I have had a poodle a yorkshire terrier and now I have a Parson Jack Russell and he is absolutely fabulous he is intelligent a bit hyper but he is adorable and guess what I call him JACK [original eh?] names = Winston Westie , Woody Westie, Willie Westie or finally Messy Westie

Names for dogs are tricky, and should be based on the animal's personality in my view.
