The breeder said they can only hold their bladder for 2 hours but she still hasn't went. What do I do & could it maybe be caused by the stress?

I have always wanted a Dane and was looking to get one within the next year and them i rescued a 3 pound chihuahua who belonged to someone i know that is moving and couldn't take her--they said that they wouldn't let her go to anyone who did not have experience with dogs that small and knew how to care for her and the precautions to take--so since i had chihuahuas in the past i decided to take a chance with her and she is working out really well--she has several issues with self confidence that we are working on bu t i am wondering if she would be okay with a large dog like that--she has her own room and everything and they probley wouldn't be together a lot but i am still concerned as to what her reaction would be. Any help is appreciated.

My two dogs got locked on to each other only once towards the end of her season. I am in two minds if she is or if she isn't.
Her boobs have got so much bigger, her tummy is tough but does not always seem bigger as to other times. Her appetite goes up and down and she was a little sick this morning. She is 34 days gone if she is and sometimes when feeling her belly, i think i feel little lumps but maybe wishful thinking. Anyway with any thoughts?

My dogs would be put up, but if I were to open my home to care for children, they say I still need to take them to a vet and have their temperment checked. I know the reason for the check is to make sure they are not aggressive.....but what goes on during the testing?

The male we had died suddenly, but the female is getting territorial, not acting quite like herself, and her...um...how would I put this delicately...her nipples are poofing up. This isn't one of those "could she be pregnant" question, just "could it be possible she could get pregnant even if she wasn't in heat.

My dog is an American Eskimo which because of the way things are she has to sleep outside in a cage with blankets just to keep her quiet. Is it okay for her to be outside doing cold days when it's 0-30F or hotter days when it's 80-100F? Her cage is always in shade so will it be ok?

My female labrador, aged 9 has been behaving very out of character lately. She keeps getting me up at night by jumping up at the door of one of the rooms she's kept in. It's been going on for months now, and at the start I'd let her outside because I thought she might have needed the toilet, but she used to just sniff around the garden. So, I've stopped letting her out and now when I come down after she's been jumping at the door, she just goes straight back to her basket. I'm never violent with her, so it's not that she thinks I'm going to hit her and she's scared, so she must know that what she is doing is wrong.

She's also started digging up our garden, something she's never done even as a puppy. It seems very strange for a dog which has always been so well behaved.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Do dogs go through some sort of period of being like this? And does anyone have any suggestions of what I could do to stop her and get a good night sleep?

I'm sick of picking up so much crap. I know the better the food, the more absorbed, less by-product to digest= less crap. What do you suggest?

I have a four month old female Japanese Chin. I'm considering getting a second dog, preferably another chin, a papillon, or a yorkshire terrier. Those are the three choices I am thinking of (even a yorki-mix possibly). The obvious choice would be to get another chin, but since there are two sizes of chins, those under 7 lbs (hard to find) and those up to 20 lbs, it's very difficult to find the smaller chins and that is what I would want. My little girl is 2.5 lbs at the moment and will maybe get to around 5. I have looked everywhere for a male chin that will be about her same size, but they are VERY hard to find. I'm considering a male papillon or yorkie (or yorki-mix). Which is the best choice out of all of them and should I even get another one. My little girl is very well behaved, potty trained, doesn't bark/cry, she is perfect! I'm concerned getting another dog may 'make' a problem, then again it could help her come out of her shyness in new situations. What should I do?

Herbie got a haircut yesterday, when he came home he was ok, but about an hour later he started acting really strange. He will go in his crate, but doesn't want to walk on the carpet/floor/ground anymore than he HAS to. He'll actually jump on the couch and walk along the back of it to get to the door to go outside. He jumped in the recliner and I saw him eyeballing trying to jump from it to the couch (too far).
He did this once before - and it was about a week before my Dad (who is 87 and lives with us) had his stroke.
Is he just weirded out because of getting his pedicure and haircut and it'll go away - or is he maybe sensing something else? He doesn't particularly pay that much attention to my dad. Just looks down at the floor like there are bugs crawling around on it (there aren't!)
Anyone else's dog ever act like this?
The last time it happened, he went to the kennel for 4 days while I went on a trip... and when he came home he was fine ( the same day my Dad had stroke)

We have a 3 year old male Dobie that runs...EVERYWHERE! There are 2 small flights of stairs when you first come into our house & if he's coming in, you better get outta the way...he'll run right into you. What sort of training could we start doing with him to try & break him of this? He gets lost of exercise outside with our Border Collie, but still comes inside like a bullet. And not just upstairs, but also through doorways, I have been pushed against a wall for him to get through first. We have a 6 mth old that will soon be crawling around & I'm hoping that he will still be able to come inside, but I really need some suggestions as to what to do. About the only time he is an angel is when his choke collar is around his neck & on his leash, but I don't have the time to walk him everywhere in the house. If anyone else has had Dobies, is this something typical of the breed, will he grow out of it at a certain age? Any help is greatly appreciated!

For example last night i wasnt well, i grabbed a duvet and sat on the bathroom floor. I was very tired, i started falling asleep while sitting against the wall (no i wasnt drunk!) Amber (my german shepard) opened the bathroom and touched her nose to mine to make sure i was breathing. I woke and gave her a big hug. She checks on me when im sick and hugs me when im down. How can a dog behave in a better way.
