hi, im taking my dog to the vet about this today but was wondering if anyone could help me in the mean time to shed soem light on this. my dog has been being sick the past three days now, the first day she was sick thoughout the night she bought up food, then later just yellow stuff the next day it was the same except she had a little diarea and also sicked up flem/spit stuff, she didnt seem herself either, i thought she had just a lil bug like we get and thought it would pass, the next day she seemed fine, but then yesterday done the same, then last night she was sick three times, first it was food, then it was yellow stuff twice, so i havent fed her this morning and im taking her in at 2:40pm (uk) as its the only time they have, does anyone have any clues on what this could be?? there has been grass in some sick but i heard thats coz they eat grass when they have a bad belly, also she ate cat food the first night she was sick, could this of been it? help please

I think you mean calpol and it is a mild pain killer you give to children but ok for a dog as well. The yellow and the grass are classic symptoms of a dog with an upset tummy like you say because yes they do eat grass to purge their stomach., the cat food could only have caused it if it was minging and completely bad altogether but then you would have smelt it. The flem bit sounds right because that is all that is left on their tummy. Is she fully wormed because that could cause her to be sick, have you changed her diet, are the neighbours throwing things over the fence for her and dont understand what she should have and not have, I have had a few neighbours that just a chicken carcess over the fence thing they are giving the dog a treat, but chicken bones can kill a dog. There is something definitely wrong with her tummy but without looking at her I wouldnt like to just guess at it. Anyway good luck and I hope she is fine for you. Let me know if she is ok please and give her a cuddle from me.

That sounds like Parvo or Poisioning of some kind, they can get parvo even when vaccinated, it's just not usually as bad as when they have no shots at all. I wouldn't wait until your appointment, I would get in the car and find an animal ER and take him in for an emergency, your dog sounds extremely dehydrated if there is vomiting and diarrhea, that is very dangerous for any animal. If he tests negative for Parvo he should have his throat xrayed to see if there is something hung up in there that is preventing him from eating or that is puncturing or tearing the esophogus which may be the reason for the frank blood in the stomach contents. Please go soon, he may not be able to wait. Good Luck, I hope he feels better.

It relies upon on the area. If the canines is whelping a muddle of domestic dogs or a cat has somewhat diarhhea then the 1st determination could be to handle it at abode to work out if the area gets extra clever. And on a similar time as waiting people can ask different puppy proprietors in the event that they have any techniques on a thank you to handle the subject and ask for customary suggestion. If it does not get extra clever then the subsequent determination is the vet. some people do have some hum dingers at right here, yet for the main section the questions are stable, valid ones.

take your dog to the vet - it's obviously something gastrointestinal (due to the vomiting and diarrhea), but it could be something more severe. they'll give her fluids and electrolytes since she's severely dehydrated and electrolytically imbalanced. they'll also probably give her some medication to make her stop vomiting and help her rest of stomach. best not to feed her anything as it seems that her body is not agreeing with any food. the cat food may have been a trigger, but it's doubtful as 3 days have passed since she vomited it up, and she's still getting sick. cat food obviously isn't the best for dogs, and she might be more sensitive to it than others, so it is a possibility that the cat food is the cause of her sickness. don't let her eat grass - that'll just make her vomit more and make her more dehydrated; the more dehydrated she gets, the more sick she'll become. how old is she? has she had her vaccines? is there any blood in the vomit or diarrhea? the "yellow stuff" in her vomit is bile - since her stomach is empty after she vomited up food, she's throwing up bile. does she vomit only after you feed her? how often do you feed her a day? the more information you can give, the better.

It sounds like a bug.Undigested food, yellow sick are typical signs of a the bug my dogs get every now & then.I live in the uk. I know it a bug because they all get it! I find that everytime they have a drink of water they throw that straight back up too.It does last a few days or even up to a week. The cat food wouldn't have caused this or the grass. The vet may give your dog an injection that stops them feeling sick. She may want to start eating again then.Give her a small light meal of scrambled egg & a little rice later on tonight.Feed little & often for a few days until her stomach has recovered.Don't take her out for a walk until she is well again. She will be weak so a little glucose in her water will help.

It might be parvo. I'm from the U.S. and we have a shot that you can buy from the feed store called a 7 in 1 shot. It is supposed to cover your puppy's first shot. I had a sick puppy that was about 4 months old when he got sick. he was sick for about 5 days. He wouldn't eat or drink anything and had bad diarreha. After 5 days of this he couldn't walk. He would just lay there outside and he looked like a skeleton and couldn't put his tongue in his mouth he was so weak. I gave him that shot and my Dad told me to feed him baby food through a syringe and pedialite. I did this for about 2 weeks. He was better after a month. If I were you I'd try the 7 in 1 shot if you have that over there and to solve the throwing up or not eating, feed your dog the turkey baby food and pedialite. the pedialite will help with the diarreaha. My puppy was acting the same way when he got sick. He also would spit up just spit. Like it was a dry heeve.

It could be a number of things that come to mind. Poisoning for one. Rat or coolant (prestone) poisoning to be exact. It could also be parvo-virus.
Or she ate something she can't cough up or pass through her system. e.g. something plastic and colour yellow.
It's hard to say which is why she's going to the vets for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Dogs and cats eat grass, but it has nothing to do with an upset stomach. Has much more to do with digestion problems. (Kind of like a human salad to help ones intestines clear out the poo.)
And I don't recommend doing this unless you know what you're doing and ask a vet first. But when my cat or dog swallowed something they weren't suppose to ( and this was done upon immediately catching them) depending on their weight and size, 1/4 teaspoon of salt for cat down the gullet and a tablespoon for the dog usually got them to vomit the would be obstruction.
But this is too late and may not be what's wrong with your pet. So please let your vet take care of it.

Well she definitely sounds poorly you dont the right thing by stopping the food temporarily, give the tummy time to settle of its own accord. She may have just picked up a stomach bug, if she playing and seems ok in herself most of the time i doubt it anything serious.

Can see how worried you are love, bet the time is going very slowly for you. The vet will put your mind at rest this afternoon. It may be nothing serious but you are doing the best you can for your dog.
Feel free to e mail me later and let me know what the vet said.
Good luck, sure the dog will be fine. x

The yellow stuff is usually acid comming up. Sound like your dog just ate something bad. Just keep it hydrated if she wont drink use a dropper and shoot the water in he mouth. If she stops vomiting and seems to be moving ok try feeding her a small amount of rice. No dog food, until she keeps that down.
