since you have just adopted your new toy poodle I would give him time to get use to people slowly and let them offer him treats but not to try and pick him up...he will get in their laps himself when he fells comfortable with them...also they will snap if you try and hand them so someone they don't want to go to (I know because my male toy poodle does the same thing...but has never actually bit me) love, time and patience will take care of most problems...by all means seek professional help to help him be a good well behaved member of you family...they are the greatest and well worth the time and effort. Best of luck!

Remember that "time" never teaches a dog, instead, you do. Everytime your dog does any behavior that is not acceptable, you have to be the leader and teach him that this action is NOT correct. The next time a man comes into the home and he begins to bark, have fun and do not get upset. The dog feels your tension. Simply make a growly sound, we use the word and sound "baa" thats sorta deep sound and then take 2 fingers and touch the dog at the neck. Poke him slightly but never hit or smack a pet. You don't have to scream or yell, and frankly, not even words. Mother dogs teach their babies and you can too. Try this each time he does it and be consistent with each man who comes into the house. I promise this will work and your guest will love your dog and much as you do. Have fun!!

There really isn't very much you can do about this except give it some time. And if that doesn't work you might want to take him to some training. Since it's a male it's probably very territorial over you and the other women in your house. This kind of thing happens with dogs all of the time, but unless you can take him to a trainer to help him get over it there really isn't anything anyone can do.

Honestly call "Bark Busters" they are much like the Dog Whisperer and they deal with behavior issues. It seems that he may have been abused poor thing. I have had dogs, but the love of my life was my red poodle that passed at 18 years old. They are wonderful companions and very intelligent. You need help from pros..Good luck.

it sounds to me like your poodle has been abused by men. Poodles usually only attach themselves to one person in the house, but they also get along with other family members. Just give him some time to adjust to his new environment. Tell the male members of your family to approach slowly and be very gentle with him so he will learn to trust them. As soon as he knows that they are not going to hurt him, he will be ok

maybe a man treated him badly in the past. poor puppy. i bet hes just scared. i would just love him. he can be your puppy. maybe he will get used to the men in the family.. but maybe he wont. either way.. take good care of him. because poodles are very sensitive. they are scared of people yelling. and they are frightened by alot of things. showing them that "its okay" in a nice voice, being patient, and loving is the key. they usually will warm up to people. i wish you and your poodle a happy beautiful life.
