I have a 8 month old yorkie-poo and a 7 week old boxer. How old do they need to be to eat a lamb and rice diet on top of their dog food?

I had a mini yorkie-poo myself they are the most loving and delightful dogs.

You can start you pooch on the lamb and rice meal anytime he is definitely old enough now. Just integrate the new food with the old food for about a week lessening the old food until you finally stop feeding it to him and you have switched over to the new food.

If you just want to add it too the top of the old food just integrate it in the same way but don't get rid of the old food.
I feed my dog lamb and rice also and it is really good especially for yorkies because it keeps them at a healthy weight and makes their coat really shine. By the way Science Diet has a small bites Lamb and Rice Meal that my dogs really seem to love. If you are looking for something less expensive you might try some Lamb and Rice Max you can find both at Pet Co or Pet Smart.

Dogs should never be fed exclusively on lamb and rice. Its not a very good form of protein and nutrients.

You can start them now. Just a little at a time, increasing the amount about every 4th day.

check with a breeder to see if they have allergies to lamb. no one told us that our chinese crested powderpuff had a lamb allergy and he wound up going to his breeder to go to their vet for allergy shots and treatment.
