I have always wanted a Dane and was looking to get one within the next year and them i rescued a 3 pound chihuahua who belonged to someone i know that is moving and couldn't take her--they said that they wouldn't let her go to anyone who did not have experience with dogs that small and knew how to care for her and the precautions to take--so since i had chihuahuas in the past i decided to take a chance with her and she is working out really well--she has several issues with self confidence that we are working on bu t i am wondering if she would be okay with a large dog like that--she has her own room and everything and they probley wouldn't be together a lot but i am still concerned as to what her reaction would be. Any help is appreciated.

Get a male Dane....... and guess who will be the boss ! Yep, she will be top dog, because the females, no matter what size, get real "bitchy" if the males bug them. And he will listen, too!

(we get the word ***** from female dogs, who are called bitches, and for good reason!)

I've had several dogs before at one time and if you taught the Great Dane that it was going to get punished when it showed the chihuahua aggression than that should help. Most dogs naturally growl at each other to show dominance so if your chihuahua was to dominant[barks at all kinds of dogs] than it could cause some problems. Dogs almost always get along.

i think of a Chihuahua, Yorkie, and so on. could be intimidated by a great dane somewhat...perhaps you may get a great Dane domestic dog that should not be as huge as a great one. And, additionally, your Chihuahua might in basic terms prefer to coach the different canines who's boss. I quite have an older Cairn Terrier and a youthful Cairn. The older one is somewhat smaller, and is the boss. perhaps learn somewhat extra approximately great Danes.

As a Pet Sitter, I care for many Danes. Also, in each house where there is a Dane, you can usually find other dogs, smaller in sizes. They all get along, and I have yet to see the contrary. I have been in this business for 10years.
