Last Tuesday we ran out of dog food and went out and purchased a bag of Large Breed Dry Dog Food made by Iams. He had been a completely healthy dog until after he ate some of the new dog food. For the next 3 days he threw up A LOT, had loose very bloody stools, and it was getting really really bad and he was going downhill fast. On Thursday (a day before the recall came out), I decided by myself that it was the food and told my husband that we weren't going to feed him any more of that food that it must be a bad batch, and I went and purchased Science Diet food which seems to agree with our dog just fine. He hasn't had any further problems now that we switched to something else.

I know that the recall doesn't say anything about dry dog food, but I keep expecting the recall to be expanded because of what we had experienced. I haven't been able to get anyone on the phone about it yet.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

If we are a family of four living in a house with 1800 sqaure feet and also own three female dogs a 4 pound maltese who is 12, a 60 pound yellow lab who is three, and a 15-20 pound Shetland Shepherd Dog who will be two this July. Our yard is large not acerage large but quite large. I exercise the dogs daily and we all love dogs. We can not, however own a German Shepherd other than that give me your opinion. All answers are welcome. So please, Help.
Thanks,

I know that wheat Gluten seem to be the ingredient which they say seems to be the problem. Also the recall list seems to only mention wet food. But upon reading ingredients to dry food and treats it also says wheat gluten- yet dry foods and treats do not seems to be there. Why is it unsafe in wet food form and not dry food or treat form? And should i refrain from giving my dog these dry treats? This is awful!

I read about the family that got attacked by their pit bull and I've noticed that it is mostly, if not only, these kind of dogs that attack people severely--pit bulls, rottweilers, and other breeds (that scare me). I hear more about these kinds of dogs attacking than, say, golden retreivers or damations or even german shepards or st. bernards. Those are also big but it seems to me they don't attack as often. Does it have to do with their DNA you think?

Menu foods is recalling numerous amount of canine and feline wet foods from certain dates.
Im not sure wheather i should trust any food distributed by any of the companies mentioned on the recall list.
It can be a possibility that dry foods and other uncalled wet foods may be infected. After all, 'they still don't know what is having these animals become sick and deceased.'
So, does anyone have any real aproved information on wheather dry foods (Iams specially) is infected?
However, I will gradually change my 1 year old felines food but, damage wouldalready be done.
But, dry foods seems to be on the safe side of this horrible predictament.
Opinions?

She is 10 months old and my brother put her in a room with her Great Dane. I don't know if she was in heat or not but now her nipples are larger and somewhat pink. She has also lost some of her appetite. What are some more signs that could indicate her being pregnant? I want to make sure I have a valid reason before taking her to the vet to get checked.

Dominance theory goes back to a faulty study of captive wolves (not a pack, which is a family unit)

Today's professionals in the dog behavior theory don't follow it as a model for our domestic dog behavior.

Things that evolved from dominance theory: The alpha Roll.
*studies of domestic dogs show that not only does the Alpha NOT roll the subordinate dogs, but that dogs that physically try to dominate other dogs are bullies and get put in their place, which is always low.

That silliness about going through doorways first.
*even in wolf packs, the leader isn't always first. It certainly is true in human culture, such as the military. The leaders stay behind and send the grunts into the mouth of the cannon.

When i go to walk my female Doberman Lab mix she stops about 5 houses down. She won't move at all she'll just sit down or lay down on the ground. Anything you do to get her to move she won't go forward. Only till you start heading back to the house then she will start moving again. As you head back to the house she looks sad with her tail down in between her legs. All most as if she was sorry that she couldn't go on.
