We already have a dog, cat, and 2 hamsters. But our dog is PUREBRED. i'd rather adopt a dog from an animal shelter.

You first really have to show them that you're responsible and would take care of it. responsibility is KEY. good luck! well explain to them the benefits, how it is helpful and is kind to animals..

Your purebred dog needs a home, just as much as a dog that's in the shelter.
If your parents aren't ready to adopt a dog, you cannot do anything to convince them.
Wait until you move out and get your own place, then you can adopt an animal, but until then, you have no say when it comes to pets that your parents own, since they are the ones responsible for taking care of them, and for all the financial requirements.

Well, it looks to me that you have quit a few animals. But its good that you like them and want to help give them a good home...start by doing chores..taking care of all the animals..if your in school, get good grades...stuff like that will show them that you are working hard to get something that you want and it is also showing them that if you get one more animal that you can take care of all of them...but sometimes parents know whats best so if they still say know at least you tried..but keep doing all of those things and don't get mad because they will soon realize that you really want a dog..good luck

Haha u sound just like me!!!! I begged my parents for awhile but they just got annoyed so then i started doing more chores.. and started getting dog pictures putting them all over the house!! Then i researched how i can potty train, teach it how to play fetch n stuff, how to sit, stay, not to jump on people. went n told my parents about how i can train it. then they started thinking about it! n then I got my puppy! but all parents are different but Good Luck!♥

ok, I had the same Prob!
What you have to do is show them you have Great responsibility.Then you have to take Care of your other animals to show that you can take care of it then you have to Tell them i will take care of it everyday,I will Feed it and Water it. You also Have to give all your other animals a Bath. and make sure they are all nice and Clean to show you can do it and the other Key is to Make Sure you are SUPER Nice to them and Listen to everything they tell you to do, then ask them to go to the pound and see if you fall in love with any of them and Show them that puppie and make sure you take really good care of it!

do alot of chores but dont say if i do the work can i have a dog just do the work and maybe they might say you been doing good around hear you can get a dog

Lie to them profusely..."I will feed it everyday", "I will walk it everyday", "I will make sure it's water bowl is always clean and full"
It worked for my daughter, and now I have a dog that I feed, water and walk everyday.
