When i go to walk my female Doberman Lab mix she stops about 5 houses down. She won't move at all she'll just sit down or lay down on the ground. Anything you do to get her to move she won't go forward. Only till you start heading back to the house then she will start moving again. As you head back to the house she looks sad with her tail down in between her legs. All most as if she was sorry that she couldn't go on.

You haven't said how old she is or how long this has been going on. My first thing would be to take her to the vet to make sure she isn't having any physical problems that could be affecting her. Then check to make sure nothing has changed in that area or a bit beyond. Did someone get a new dog, lawn furniture? Something strange shes not used to. Try going the other way or crossing the street and see if the distance is different. Check with the vet first though. Hope that helps

Is this a new habit or have you just gotten the dog? If it's the first one then I'm not sure...maybe a new dog moved in next door and she can smell its fury. Or, maybe she could have had a bad experience there? Unless she's always with you...that puzzles me. If it's the second one then she's probably just uncomfortable because she doesn't know the area and is scared to wander too far from home. Perfectly understandable, she'll get over it. Good luck!

She might want to play, or may be in heat. It's hard to tell, but if you get behind her and prod her to continue, I think once she is on her way she will be alright. You might ask a trainer, I know that they have tricks that work very well, but you shouldn't let the dog get away without the necessary outdoor activity. You must be the boss, and not the dog, I know that most of us let the dog be the boss, and that's not the best idea.

Does she have exercise intolerance to any other activities? if so she could have muscular disease that causes her muscles to not be able to move after a certain chemical transmitter is exhausted. rest will replenish it (for a short time only). Do her muscles twitch or tremor?
go to your vet and ask him/her.
she could also be affraid of something

i would think that you didn't always own this dog and it wasn't alowd out of it's last yard and is afraid of being beaten. but thats just an opinion. you should try to playfully coax her into walking forward.
