There is something seriously wrong with this story. No vet is going to put extra money to have a micro chip put in a stray.

If this is true take your dog to another vet or animal shelter and have the chip scanned to make sure there is one. It is located between the shoulder blades. If there is one, record it and have it registered. ( Thank the vet) If your pet gets away again, the Vets or animal shelters can identify the owners my scanning the dog.

We have all our dog micro chipped. Best thing to come around.

Vets dont go around picking up stray dogs, and when one is brought to them they dont put a microchip in the dog (those chips are expensive and the vet has to pay a fee to the company that makes them in order to use it, plus has to register that chip with the company when they are implanted)...it wouldnt make any sense to do that. Microchiping is NOT state law in any state, but having a rabies license is.
Veterinarians do not get involved with scenarios like this for many reasons.

A microchip is a good thing. It should be mandatory, alot more people would get their pets back if they had them identified w/ a microchip.

Likely they are chipping pets they find, and when they find them again, they know that you are a repeat offender and know that you should be cited. The more often they find and scan that chip the more they know that your dog is out there roaming. Just make sure that your dog isn't out and about and you have nothing to worry about.

what's wrong with the vet putting a chip in your dog? it's going to help locate him the next time he gets loose, you should be thanking him!

there's no harm done with the insertion of the chip, and i think the vet was only trying to help.

and yes, depending on where you live and local laws, there are many places where citations can be given to owners who frequenly have loose dogs.
