Hello and thank you to all who graciously emailed me with their thoughts on why my Minnie was shivering. I just wanted to let you know that she is just fine. She did have a foxtail in her right ear. I had no idea!!
Just wanted to let you know she is okay. You all take care and God bless

I rescued a chihuahua from a farm. The previous owner used to beat starve him. I dont have any papers or anything on him. He is about 3-4 yrs old. I would like to get him neutered and have him get shots. He took to me instantly as well a couple of other people. But for some he didnt and he growls at them. Will getting him neutered fix this problem as well as him peeing on everything every 4 feet? Is it expensive getting him neutered, I am a student in college and dont have all the money in the world.

Our 1 year old female dog is still making accidents daily - she doesn't even bother to use the "potty pads" we have. She gets let out once an hour or so. How do I get back to potty training her and should she be crated again when we are not home? Getting frustrated!

i have been on many different sites, and people from europe seem to think that americans are too quick to neuter animals. i would be interested in hearing reasons, other than the obvious get em fixed so there aren't too many, and take out the organs, less chance of cancer.
i am interested in hearing from the other side, what health benefits are gained by holding off on neutering
i am a very responsible pet owner, treat them as my children, and want the best for them.
thank you

Every day my little Frida spends substantial time half standing half laying down with her back legs straight up and her front legs out in front of herself. She's not stretching, she's just hanging out in this funny position. Anyone know why?

I just recently got a new dog, and when we got her on the 20th of february, she had been vaccinated. We thought she was due for her next vaccination later this month, but apparently she was due for one on the 6th. Today is March 21st, and I am going to get her vaccinated tonight because I wanted to schedule the appointment for next week, but since it was so late, I wanted to have it done ASAP. I know I can't do much about it right now, but I am worried sick. How at risk is she?(Unless you actually have a good idea as to the truth of your answer, please don't respond with sarcastic answers, because I am really quite worried) I am 2 weeks behind on vaccinations to the day, does this mean she could get Parvo or something as equally nasty?

We have just got our second dog. We got him from a family that have had him from a pup for 9 years. They have a 14 month child and their excuse for getting rid of him was that "the child keeps pulling him around". They admitted he'd scratched the kid on the face once, but as my partner and I are the only ones at home we decided to take him before they dumped him at the kennels. He's turned out to be a total sweetheart, and not a nasty bone in his body. He just loves people and although we've been sensible and not overwhelmed him, he's not got a problem with children! How can anyone just get rid of such a loyal family pet?! I just don't think he was cute enough for them anymore. Anyone experienced a similar situation?

We are currently potty-training our pup. She understands to do no.2's outside, but doesn't grasp that the same applies to no.1's. We are slowly getting there with lots of praise etc and following the manual on how to train her. BUT at night time she soils her bed - we have her in a crate which we close her in for periods as advised - apparently pups should have a strong instinct to hold it and not go to toilet in their beds/crates but she does in the night. Her food is in there and she doesn't mind being confined in there - she whines for the first 10 minutes then settles down. Any suggestions on encouraging her to hold it during the night? She is three months old.

For the past 24 hours or so, I have noticed that my dog has had blood in his stool and it's not completely wet, but the stool is not as solid as usual. He also threw up after eating last night- that was the only time. He is still eating, drinking, and running around like usual. He whines a bit more when he has to go and it just seems like he has to go to the bathroom (number2) a little more than usual, but very normal otherwise. He actually went in his crate yesterday which he never does. Well, he somehow got it just outside of the crate but it's still a rarity.

He is a one year old black and tan mix. He definitely has terrier in him, but the other bits are unknown. I've heard miniature pinscher and also italian greyhound. It's hard to say.

I'm hoping for the best obviously- does this sound familiar to anybody? Maybe he just ate something he shouldn't have? I want to call the vet, but they don't open for a few hours.

He drinks and urinates excessively, gets in the garbage, has lost some hair, etc. -- all the symptoms of the disease. The vet said his final test is negative. Has anyone ever gone through this or have any suggestions. He is very hard to care for because he is urinating everywhere all the time.

How do you confirm pregnancy in a dog? Is it only by xray or ultrasound? At what point during the cycle can a female become pregnant? Any websites would be appreciated.

Before you ask no Im not breeding my dogs. I am trying to learn more and have a better understanding of breeding and dogs in general.
