Hello, yes,iI would still crate her ,especially at night.Do you have a nice sized yard?If so then I would suggest you put up a doggie run,you know a pen where she is able to roam freely without messing up the house. You can put a dog house in the pen too, they have them already assembled. She could spend the daylight hours outdoors and at night in the house crated. When outdoors (weather permitting)she ll enjoy this, because she gets the air,and if shes a frisky type of dog she gets her exercise as well and you have no fear of her taking off on you in a fenced in dog run. I hope I ve helped you. rubberstampr

I would get rid of the potty pads, that's likely the problem. She thinks it's okay to go in the house sometimes, and sometimes outside. You want her to think that the only place that is allowed is outside. Dump the pads.
Take her out like you have been, each hour and remember to praise her when she does the right thing.
And Yes, crate her while you are gone. Not only will it keep her from making accidents in the house, but it will keep her safe.
She is spayed? You have had the vet check her to make sure she has no infection that might be causing her to have accidents in the house?

One of the first things I would do is have the vet check her for a urinary tract infection. This is a primary cause of increased urination in a dog.
If that is not an issue, then I would get back into the routine of potty training that you would use for a puppy. Crated when they cannot be watched, outside every two hours and not coming back in until they have toileted.
Also, is there any change in the household? Any increased stressors? This can also affect a dog very seriously.
Good luck.

I have the same problem with my one year old male. I started crating him during the day and at night about a month ago. I have noticed him peeing alot less in the house. He still poops in the same spot inside though. He didn't have accidents with the peeing until recently and for some reason went on my bed. But I have definitely noticed a difference. Hopefully the rest will come so I don't have to keep him locked up so much.
Good luck! I wish I could offer more help.

If she has consistently been going in the house, chances are it is behavioral. I'd get her checked by a vet to rule out physical causes, however.
Then, go back to crate training. Don't just let her outside, you MUST go with her, catch as soon as she has pottied outside and give her a really yummy treat.
Dogs are opportunists, they do what works for them. If she gets a treat for going outside, and doesn't get anything for going inside, she will go where the goodies are. Once she has the habit established, you can phase out the treats.

You might try taking her to your vet. It could be an early sign of diabetes. Have her kidneys checked. Does she drink alot of water? Otherwise, you just have to stick with the routine of going outside with her and praise her outragously when she does go potty outside. Treats and good belly rubs and a high squeaky voice. Try bringing her favorite toy outside without her seeing it until she's done, then give it to her and let her know she's a very good girl. Don't forget to scold her (not hit her) when she goes in the house and take her directly to the door and show her how to paw at the door, then take her out. Hanging bells on the doorknob and showing her how to ring them with her foot sometimes helps.

yes, the answer is crate her. She should be able to hold it several hours. I have a tiny Chihuahua male who waits 8 hours and more. He was just a year old dec23 06.I think more crate time is in order for your dog, that means during the day too.

You probably started out wrong, remember when yo first got your pup?, Did you take the dog for normal walks. pups need to be walked at least 4 times a day.First remove any trace of pads boxes or anything your using in the house. Start walking your dog on a regular bases.
