For the past 24 hours or so, I have noticed that my dog has had blood in his stool and it's not completely wet, but the stool is not as solid as usual. He also threw up after eating last night- that was the only time. He is still eating, drinking, and running around like usual. He whines a bit more when he has to go and it just seems like he has to go to the bathroom (number2) a little more than usual, but very normal otherwise. He actually went in his crate yesterday which he never does. Well, he somehow got it just outside of the crate but it's still a rarity.

He is a one year old black and tan mix. He definitely has terrier in him, but the other bits are unknown. I've heard miniature pinscher and also italian greyhound. It's hard to say.

I'm hoping for the best obviously- does this sound familiar to anybody? Maybe he just ate something he shouldn't have? I want to call the vet, but they don't open for a few hours.

Also, the blood is red and the stool is normal color.

Do you give your dog bones? Even though they sell them in pet stores, not all the bones are good for dogs. Same with bones from the butcher. My dog had the same thing happen and it really freaked me out. He was fine, and then all of a sudden there was blood in his stool. I took him to the vet after it happened a couple times, and they asked if he had eaten any bones. We had given him a bone 2 nights before (that we bought at a pet store.) The vet said you have to be very careful, about the kind of bone you give your dog. Make sure they won't splinter. Boiled bones are the best. Don't buy the brown ones that the sell. The bone we gave our dog splintered, so when he went to do his business, the little splinters of bone made little cuts in the intestine as it moved along. Hope your dog is feeling better.
P.S. The bleeding stopped on it's own after 1 1/2 days.

My vet suggested to alter slowly a million/4 cup at a time for 4 days and then upload yet another 2 Tbsp. for 2 days and then yet another a million/4 cup for 4 days and the two extra Tbs for 2 days and so on until they have been thoroughly replaced over to sidestep diarrhea and the different set back. My canines did not do too nicely so I had to leave her at a million/8 cup for a jointly as and notice how that went for extra or less 3 weeks and then 2 weeks and so on she has finally tailored and is as much as two weeks and four days now merely approximately not one of the domestic dog nutrition, quickly nicely maximum probable by using the top of this month she would be all the way on the extra much less costly extra useful drugs! YIPPEE!!!! i'm excited!

It could be as simple as something he ate or a change in diet - but you need to have him checked out by a Vet within the next 24 hours.

DEFINITELY CALL THE VET RIGHT AWAY!!! BUT MIGHT BE OK, MY 14 YEAR OLD BLACK LAB DID THAT AFTER EATING, NOT CHEWING, A RAWHIDE BONE AND WAS OK ONCE ALL WAS PASSED OUT THE STOOL.
