My dog is stinky!! I had questions about what I could do (besides giving him a bath) which would rid him of smell. Does baking soda remove odor when you rub it on your dogs coat? Also after taking him to a groomers he has this powder on him thats smell really good. can you buy that anywhere? or make it? what else can you use?? Please Help!!

I have a 16mo old nuetered male Toy Fox Terrier. Now sometimes when me and my husband leave, he'll get into the trash. (try to eat what he can, yes he's a pig) As soon as we walk in he'll sit in the corner shaking his little butt off bc he knows he did something wrong. How do we discipline him? Does he just do this out of boredom? I don't want to have to move the trash bin on the counters, I want him to learn that it's wrong. Any advice? Thanks!

PS YES he does have plenty of toys and always a bowl of food and water.

I am beyond heart-torn here. I have a year and a half old Chihuahua, he is insanly aggressive. He barks and nearly attacks anyone he doesn't know. Last week he got out the front door and went crazy on a 5 year old neighborhood child. Thank god he didn't bite the skin, just his baggy pants. He seems to be getting worse, he now won't let me cut his nails. Everything is turning to him biting. I have a 5 year old and a 7 year old, and I take care of a 6 month old 45 hours a week. I feel like it's just a matter of time before he bites someone seriously. (he has bitten my dad and Drawn blood). My husband is adoment on not having a pet that we have to put away or keep muzzled. I am very torn, I don't know what to do with him. I know the humane society will kill him, and the thought of my giving im away and him eventually biting someone bothers me. He goes into a "red zone" when anyone even walks by the house, he has a one track mind and it's to attack. please, some nice advice?

I am tired, so tired of all the ignorant people sentencing these dogs to death and discriminating against all the dogs based on the actions of a few. I dont care who you are, if you support breed specific legislation you are ignorant, misguided, cruel, heartless, narrowminded and the poorest examples of humanity I could ever find on this planet. I want to know if anyone has any information on how to really join the fight here in Canada against BSL, in a productive way... if you have any links to websites etc for Canada I would be grateful and any tips on how to maybe get things started in my community as well.

I'm allowed to get one dog for my birthday and I would like one that isn't too high maintainance. And it can be any size but good-tempered, family dog and playful.

I am in a very frustrating situation. To help me I have to give you a little background on my senior dog, Buddy. For 14 years he has had an OCD problem of constantly wanting to drink water. My family don't know what caused it. We only know it's in his head. He has been to two vets. He does not have diabetes. But the vets did suggest taking him to animal psychologist. We would but that would have be 100 miles away.

Now that I have a new puppy things have started to go out of control. As soon as Buddy is finished with his water his tries to get hers after she has finished. Well my puppy seems to think that he wants to play. Then they start fighting. I am not getting rid of my dogs. I just want to know a way that they both settle down making the stress level better for my family.

To anyone who helps the most I greatly appreciate it and will reward 10 points.

Thanks,
Computer Geek

Because of the issues with Menu Foods, I have no desire to give these people any more of my money. Additionally, I believe that I can do better than Nutro Ultra for my dogs. I am considering switching to Nature's Variety, does anyone have an opinion on this brand?

Thanks

We have a female boxer who is a year and a half old, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to clip her nails! When we first got her at 8 weeks old we followed the vet's instructions and touched her paws a lot to try to make her comfortable with us holding/touching her paws so nail clipping would be easier. It was fine until she was just shy of one year old- now she will not let us cut her nails. My husband and I have even gone as far as to physically lay on top of her and hold her down trying to cut her nails, but she always wriggles out of our grasps. We have taken her to the groomer and the vet but to no avail- she is not an aggressive dog AT ALL but she nipped at both the groomer and the vet when they tried to cut her nails. She allows you to touch her paws but for some reason when you bring out the clippers she goes ballistic and runs in the other direction. Does anyone have any practical advice for me? Her nails are getting really long and I am worried they are starting to get uncomfortable

I am considering getting a male papillon and I want to know if papillons make good walking dogs. I have a japanese chin and she does not like to walk, plus with her short nose, when it gets really warm outside it makes it harder for her to breath and I don't like her to get too hot or too cold. I just want to know if they make good pets too. I have heard great things about them, but want to know positives and negatives. Also, how big do they usually get?

I have a female brendel ptt that is about 10 months old. I am wondering when she will go into her first heat?? I plan to breed her with another brendal pit/english mix. I want to wait til she's gone through it at least 3 times before i let them breed.

Also, is there any dog forums that can help someone through the process of breeding?? I tried the pit bull forum but one of my dogs isnt pure bread pitt so they wont deal with me. butt heads..oh well, ive tried searching the net for one but just cant find a good one.

Thanks!!

No kind way to say this, I noticed a yellowish/offwhite worm near the rear end of my 3 year old basset this morning. The worm looked like a larvae.

Am I correct in concluding that my dog has worms?

Where do these type of worms originate?

I have owned dogs for many years. Both large and small breeds. Currently, I have 5 adult dogs and a puppy. The puppy is a Pekingese. It's a 4 month old male. It gets along fine with the other dogs, has learned to lead on a leash, come when called, and shake hands for a treat. The problem with the dog is that it will not learn house training. I have had remarkable success with crate training all of my other dogs, as puppies. (I have an adult Pekingese, as well) This puppy will only go potty in its crate. Often it will roll around in its mess.
I usually end up bathing the pup at least 6 times a day because of this. I've tried scented puppy pads and gated off a small area in the kitchen for the puppy to roam around in. He won't use them and waits to go until he's back in his crate. I've even soaked the crate in odor remover and even purchased a new crate, so the smell wouldn't be there. He still does the same thing. What do I do ? Any ideas ?
