you need to get approval from the aviation and veterinary authorities in your country, in my country its called the AVA-agri food and veterinary authorities. they handle the import and export of animals. you need to send your pet for checkup and they'd most probably quarantine your pet to check for any diseases then over there your pet would be quarantined again-that's what happens in my country-singapore. hope this helps.

p.s
the quarantine checks for diseases and if your pet is fine they'd issue a proof sorta thing and you'd be able to take your pet there. other issues like transporting your pet is another issue, so you'd have to ask your local transportation companies like the airlines about taking your dog with you.

You need to contact the country and ask about quarantine issues and get the correct paperwork. Contact the airlines and ask about health certificates(if you are flying) and then contact your vet in plenty of time to get the papers filled out and get an exam etc.

This website says that they needed a veterinary health certificate (that no one even inspected), traveling by car from US to Mexico. They were vacationing with their dogs.

Check it out...

Check with your Veterinarian.
If you're flying check with the Airline.
