Don't pedigree dogs use the street?

Nope, absolutely not.. you cannot even distinguish a dogs breed by DNA. Genetically you couldnt tell the difference between a Rottweiler and a Chihuahua, or a Mutt and a Champion purbred. Dogs are only a subspecies of wolf.. and differ by 0.02% mtDNA from wild wolves, you can genetically tell the difference between different subspecies but not amongst differing breeds. Keep in mind that each dogs DNA is unique in the sense that it could identify that particular dog, just like humans DNA is our own unique genetic fingerprint. But breed wise you couldnt tell the difference.. If I gave a geneticist samples from 10 different breeds and told them to tell me what breed each sample came from they would not be able to do it.

The difference is negligible. Pedigree and mixed breed dogs are the same species and in fact have only 1 percent difference in their DNA from a wolf.

And difference?

Not really: canine dna is canine dna.

BTW, I think you mean "purebred" rather than pedigree. All dogs have a pedigree; pedigree simply means that they have ancestors.

Probably not, no. But then again, nobody's done the research as far as I know.

Random tidbit of info, we didn't domesticate dogs. It was a joint thing. They came to us for food, we provided this food in return for protection. It happened naturally, and is thought to have gone much faster than we had previously beleived. Selective breeding came later on, but thy were alrady domestic at that point.

I don't think so. That's why they CAN breed. But DNA is different with each dog as it carries the benefits and flaws of it's ancestors.

The purebred dog has a more homozygous DNA. There is also a greater chance of recessive gene disorders appearing in these dogs. Mongrels have a greater DNA variety and are therefore stonger and more resistant to disease.

Difference?

Yes.

A street dog, because of mongrality, is closer genetically to every dogs origin.
The wolf.

Over the millennia, wolfs were bread for traits and eventually we have very spicific looking relations of the wolf. Thats why all dogs can breed with all other dogs.

Every Pedigree is inherenty sick.
They either are born with, or will develop problems that their owners will have to pay for.

It is inbreeding that has caused these problems, and mongrel dogs are far more rugged genetically.

All dogs have DNA... But do you mean they might be related somehow?
