Every day my little Frida spends substantial time half standing half laying down with her back legs straight up and her front legs out in front of herself. She's not stretching, she's just hanging out in this funny position. Anyone know why?

She's just hanging out. Little dogs are weird.

Lets hope she didn't hurt her hips!! This can be a serious sign of degenerate or hip problems. I know this isn't common in little dogs. I would still question the vet about it. I have a lab that likes to lay his belly on the sofa and keep his front feets on the floor while he sleeps there. After aqskin the vet..he's just a goofy doggie I suppose. Seriously..just ask a vet and make sure!!!

I know, I´ve got a pinscher now for about 13 years, and he usually does that when there´s some sort of stomach discomfort going on... If you follow your dog up, you will probably (when in a garden) see him eating grass, for he´ll be trying to induce vomitting as a way of releasing the discomfort. Try changing her food, or if it doesn´t help, take her to a vet. But be certain, I´m pretty sure of what I´m talking about.

Does she seem to feel pain at all any other times?
She might just have a goofy way of relaxing. I would tho watch her to see if she seems to have an upset tummy and is trying to stretch to make it feel better, or her hips were bothering her and it was a more comfortable position.

she just enjoys that postion. animals can find confort in postions we maybe find odd or looks unconfortable. i have a cat who loves to lay directly on her back with her legs and arms spread wide open. she can lay like that and fall asleep. it's just comfortable postion your doggie must like.

if she does not limp while walking or squeal when you touch her hind legs and the knees on her hind legs, it might just be a position she likes to relax in.

worms? does she run her booty on the ground? um, maybe it's VERY confortable for her. i had a lil taco bell dog too but he'd never do that.

just try to figure if your lil dog pulls herself with her front paws to scrap her lil booty on the ground. if she does, take her for a worms check.
