I have a 4 month old Lhasa Apso. He is tan with black on the tips of his ears and his tail. He looks like a teddy bear or maybe a lion. Super cute and friendly. I have another dog named Cosmo after Cosmo Kramer. So, I'd like to name him something that has a "story" behind it. I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks!!

Hello,
I have the sweetest 9 month old Rottweiler. My only comlpaint about him is that any toy he is given is destroyed within an hour. He's gone through many stuffed animals human and doggy (with supervision of course). He is able to shred rope toys. He had a red Kong and cracked the rubber in half, and he cant fit his mouth on the stronger black kong. Anyone know of a great indestructable dog toy? He is crate trained and is in his crate for about 4 hours a day and I can't leave him with any toys because I am too scared about what he will ingest well I am gone.
At least its not the furniture!
Thanks,
Any ideas are greatly appreciated :)

My dog starting vomiting. He later vomitted the yellow bile. I am not sure if he ate Rodent Poison or Roundup Weed Killer Stuff. He stopped and i feed him a little dog food. He is looking okay. He acts normal and fine now.

I have a 13 year old blonde akita . I have him since he was 8 weeks old. He is in perfect health. He is not blind, he can still run and jump, chase balls, etc. Everybody thinks he is around 2 years old. He is starting to go def. He has been literally under my feet for the past 6 -9 months. I go to the bathroom he opens the door and looks in on me, I try to cook dinner and do dishes and I know if I take a step back I will fall on him. I do laundry and while I am taking clothes out of the washer to put in the dryer I trip over him. If I walk in one room and into another, he's following me. If I go outside for even a moment he starts barking. If I know I'm gonna be outside to do yardwork I tie him to a ruuner so he can be with me. When I come in to get a drink, I have to bring him in then tie him up to go back outside with me. Is this a geriatric thing or an akita thing? He has always been clingy , but not this clingy. It's humerous , but annoying sometimes.I luv him like my kid :)

Ok, I've had a time with these pups because of the momma. down to 4 pups out of 11. Two of them are very healthy, fat and active while nursing, one is ok but needs to be better and the last one is having problems. Much skinner then the other 2, not much energy, not trying to nurse real hard, gives up nipple easily. I was thinking about trying a bit of bottle feeding on the 2 to get there energy back up to nursing. I don't have a real formula available but willing to try home made ones. I have to get up to nurse them anyway, cant leave mom with them at all, have to sit by her side and hold pups so adding the bottle isn't a big deal. I'd like to try and save these two if possible. Any suggestions, thoughts? Will bottle feeding help? Should I try the cornsyrup on the tongue trick? They stay in box w/heating pad unless feeding on mum. Born on St. Paddys day so only 4 days old. Mum cleans them. I'm trying to give them extra nipple time but they just don't try real hard! Thanks for any help!!

And have you followed their progress, to see how many find homes or how many are euthanized because there are just too many dogs alive?
Have you seen the HBO special, out on video called "Shelter Dogs" by Cynthia Wade? http://www.shelterdogs.org/
I recommend you watch this before ever contemplating breeding any dog.

Small Paws Rescue is currently on one of the most intense searches, for a runaway Bichon, in their short history. A puppy mill rescue, Annie, broke away from her foster mom about 25 days ago, little pink leash flying behind her. Annie is hiding out in and around an Octagonal Wildlife Sanctuary in Engelwood, about 90 miles from Tampa, and she is living off the land. She has been sighted almost a hundred times. Dozens have come within feet of her but she is really really fast and (as a former mill puppy) is terrified of humans. She's was tranq darted but they can't find her. The EARS (military) some vets and some pretty weary volunteers are involved but you all out there know the terrain is thick and can easily hide a little thing like Annie.

I am inviting anyone with time, who knows this area, to help.

For more information please go to www.smallpawsrescue.com

Thanks all.

If you were at a shelter or rescue group looking to adopt a dog and seen a dog with an amputated leg, would you adopt him or just walk on by to a four legged dog? I know what I would do, but just wondering what others would do? By the way, the dog is otherwise healthy.

My 7 month old pup who is very restistant to housetraining will not eat unless i am standing right in back of her forcing her to eat!! If she had it her way she would never eat!! She doesnt like any of the treats we buy for her either!! I thought dogs love treats, my dog wont touch one!! Then if she is eating and i decide to walk away, she will walk away and go off into another part of the house. I try putting her outside to see if she has to go, but she doesnt!!! Ever since we got her we had to pracitcally force or bribe her to eat! Not only that, but when i was patiently standing behind her one day while she was eating, she backed up about 5 inches and squatted and peed all over the floor!! I was shocked. Well, not really because she never tells me when she has to go anyway! I am at my witts end!! What is wrong with her?

I have been feeding that to my two rottweilers and they both have been sick since January with diarriah and vomiting, refuse to eat, I nurse them with baby food, they get better, I return to their normal feed (Iams Lamb and Rice, can) and they start vomiting again. Am I the only one with that experience?

We have a chocolat Lab , my family lives in Europe and I'm going for a visit of 2 weeks . My husband has to work and leaves the house at 6:00 am and is back home at 5:30 pm.
Is it better for the dog to stay home alone ( we have 1/2 acre back yard ) or is it better for the dog to be in a kennel for 2 weeks while I'm gone .

I have a faithful dog. Now she is 8 years old. One day I came home and found she cannot walk again with her right rear leg. Oh my dear! And vet said due to arthro-aging there is already no way to help her walk normally. It seems that she is destined to walk only with 3 legs in her golden life. What!? Just left the house and back home, such a big change happened just in this moment. I cannnot believe it. I try to see other vets and all got the same response. Is it a technological era now? So I try to massage her leg often and encourage her and try to lose her weight. I don't know. I cannot see it. I mean when I come home, she always welcome me with her only 3 legs. And she doesn't care about that now she walks only with 3 legs. You know when human beings lose one hand or one leg, we'll always complain our misfortune and have a long face every day. Yet she doesn't care and still loves this home and me. Oh! Who knows how to heal her sick leg?? please!
