Is there a small lump anywhere by the incision? That would be a sign of the hernia. If it is real red and gooey looking she has an infection. If she is licking her incision a lot that will also cause the problem. If I were you I would take her back to the vet as soon as you can get her in especially if she is vomiting.

This is more common than you think. The obvious answer would be to take the dog back to the veterinarian and see what is up. Lots of dogs react (allergic) to the sutures and thus can cause vomitting because of infection and this would also explain the soreness. I know at our vet clinic if a dog reacts to sutures we immediately put them on "Clavamox" which most pets are put on after surgery. It acts like pennecilin and will take care for the most part of any infection. Obviously if the sutures are disolvable (dissapear by themselves over a few weeks time) the situation will rectify itself but if they're not obviously something has to be done. We had one dog who reacted to a type of sutures at our clinic and we anesthetized them, ended up re-opening the incision site and suturing it closed again with a different kind of suture. We kept the dog for about two days to ensure no new reaction. And the dog did a complete turn around. Did i mention we did it for free?! A vet doesn't want you to have complications with your dog! They want you to ahve an enjoyable time with your companion. Your best bet isn't to go onto the internet and find information out here... call your vet. At our clinic our receptionists can answer the majority of questions and if they don't know they'll ask a vet to call you or have you come in! Obviously vomitting and the other syptoms you noted are not normal... do something about it! best of luck!

You know your dog better than anyone else.

It might be that the incision has gotten infected. It might be that your dog picked up an "extra" while at the vets' office-- an infection from another dog or cat there. It might be unrelated.

For sure though, do call the vet's office and let them know. The vet may want to see the dog again or may tell you what you can do at home to make your dog more comfortable.

It could be an infection. Is it red around the incision site? The vet really needs to take a look. If she is acting ill and vomiting, and is quite sore, infection is very likely and she will need a round of antibiotics.

You can start by taking her to the vet and letting him know that you have some concerns. If nothing is done, you might have to go see another vet. Hope your dog gets better!

Take her to the vet. If you don't trust the vet who fixed her, find another, but a vet should see her as soon as possible. Good Luck!

You need to call your vet now. If it is a hernia she could die if she does not get treatment soon. It could also be an infection. Call your vet and demand that the dog be seen today.

Why haven't you called your vet yet. She could have an infection or something going on that can be easily fixed now but it you continue to wait could kill her. Call the vet.
