My mother's dog has been sick since sunday- vomiting, won't eat, when he drinks, he throws it all up and he is acting very strange. I know so far only wet food is being recalled, but he eats Wegman's Bruiser dog food, (dry) which is on the list, but only for wet. Does anyone else out there have a dog that eats dry food and is having similar problems?? He is in the animal hospital now being treated for dehydration and they are doing blood tests on him. Please help!! We have the current phone # and info but it's just for wet so far.

I have a 7 month old puppy that is bleeding when he poops. We have been on albon and other antibiotics that seem to work for a few days and then it is back to pooping blood. My vet says just to try another round of antibiotics but doesn't know what is wrong. Any ideas?

He is a golden retriever if that helps.

I have a toy poodle and I have no trouble giving him a bath-- except when it comes to his face. When he drinks water, the fur around his nose and mouth gets really stringy looking even after it's dried. Not a good look for him. And he's white, so he gets those tear stains down his snout and I want to wash them off. But whenever I bathe him, he licks the shampoo off his face and swallows it. How can I keep him from doing that? I once tried to hold his mouth closed while I washed, but he freaked out. I don't want him afraid of baths, nor do I want him sick from eating shampoo. What to do?

We have a 2 year old hound dog who smells EVERYTHING. My sister came home from a friends's house who owns a couple golden retrievers (they are "fixed") and when she came home and the dog smelled her, he got "dominant" if you know what I mean. Any suggestions besides neutering?

Can someone who'se been feeding the B.A.R.F. diet to their dog tell me how much more it costs, and how much inconvenience there is, and whether it's really much better thank kibble? Please tell me your experiences with the BARF diet, I'm thinking of it for my puppy.

She's a Pomeranian and shes about 3 years old. Its really weird, cause she does it the worst in the mornings. Its like she caughs and weezes at the same time and can't get her breath. It kind of sounds like when a cat gets a hair ball. When she does it she just looks at me like help, like it really bothers her. Sometimes it's so bad that I have to rub her throat and her neck to get it to stop. It makes me worried that she might have asthma. Any ideas of what it could or might be?

I just took my beloved dog into the vet this morning. She has been vomitting for the past 24 hours, getting increasingly worse. I was told that they would run labs and look into pancreatitis as the diagnosis. Just this cost me $700 (tests, antibiotics, pain med, x-rays, day at hospital)

The vet just called and told me that the x-rays could indicate a foreign body in her intestines.

My question is this.....if she needs surgery to remove a foreign body, what is the approximate cost of such a surgery? We are already $700 into this, and I cannot justify spending thousands right now on my 10 year old mix-breed. Don't get me wrong. I love my dog, but I have to eat, and the vet doesn't have a payment plan.

Does anyone know a rough estimate on how much a gasteric surgery might cost....$1000? Or $5000?

do you suggest adopting a dog like an Akita from a rescue or raising one from a puppy? Most random people I asked in "real life" said they are mean unless you raise them from a puppy yourself.

Just wondering if there was. :] I have one her name is Coco, she is 11 months and weighs 13 pounds. She is way bigger than she is supposed to be! How big is yours?? Do you have any cute stories about them? I don't know anyone with a yorkiepoo, a yorkie, or a poodle! So it will be nice to hear from some yorkiepoo owners! (A yorkiepoo is a yorkie and poodle mixed for those who don't know :] )

◙◙ Speedy Lawn Patching ◙◙

◙ If all you are doing is patching your lawn you can plant it and it will be 8 inches tall in 2 days. I know it sounds impossible. But I have done it many times.

◙ Plant the seed as you normally would. But this time cut a piece of clear plastic a foot wider than the area you are patching and place something heavy like rocks around the edges to hold it down. Poke two small holes in the plastic somewhere near the center for ventilation.

◙ Take the plastic off the next morning to water the area and recover it with the plastic. Do not go past 2 days or your new grass will turn yellow and you will have to start all over again.

◙ This works best in the spring and the fall. Do not try it in the middle of the summer. The temperature will be too high under the plastic.

◙ I am a cheapskate so I get free plastic by having furniture stores save those big clear plastic bags that mattresses come in. :)
