How do I stop my adult dog from urinating on the couch?
How do I stop my dog (5 yr old Westie) from urinating on the couch? She is house trained and does not have a bladder infection (just had her check out at the vet with a urine sample). I believe its behavioral problem but do not know why she has urinated twice (once on my couch and once on the chase). She does not urinate inside and she was not left home long. Thanks.

Well, I've asked a question about her before, but this time I know what breed she is. Wednesday is a Chow mix Chocolate Labrador Retriever, almost 3 months old. I've noticed this little spot on her back, which it showed up just recently. I didn't think much of it at first, because when I noticed it I knew that in a few days I would be bathing her, anyway. Well, Mom and I just thought that she rolled around in something and got it stuck in her fur, which made her skin show in this one place. I just bathed her, and there's nothing in her fur. I whiped the skin down and she's dryed off. It's nothing that's not supposed to be there, it's her skin, but it looks like it was swolen. Now, the other day one of the outside dogs, which is the only slightly aggressive dog out there, was watching her run around and play with him as usual. She got near his bowl, and he won't do this to humans, but he usually just snarls at her. (Hang on, I'll add more in More Details)...

There is a married couple that we've been friends with for almost 10 years. They wanted to relocate from where they used to live to where we live, and asked us if we would take them in for a little while until they can get jobs and an apartment. I spoke with my husband and he gave it the OK. When they finally arrived they came with 2 HUGE dogs! (I have 2 little dogs in my house). I told them that those dogs had to stay outside. The first night the dogs were rowdy and since it was cold outside I allowed them to bring them into their room under the condition that during the day the dogs will remain outdoors. Well, now I have a "carpet" of dog hair all over my house!! While my hubby and I are working they keep the dogs inside despite of what I told them!! They have been looking for work but so far nothing. I've told them repeatedly to tie the dogs outside but they are oblivoius to my demands. I would hate to evict them from my house...and I don't want to kill their dogs. What should I do?

Have you ever seen an adult dog suckle on a stuffed toy or toss pillow? I have a female Doberman that does this to toss pillows that I buy especially for her. She even needs the pillow with her paws at the same time. Any ideas why she does this? I do think it is cute!!!!

How common is HOD in mixed breed dogs?
I have a Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix.
How likely do you think it would be for her to have HOD triggered from a distemperment vaccine? Since from what I've read, Goldens are one of the breeds this commonly affects, and Pyrs are Giant Breed dogs which is also commonly affected.

I've already asked the vet and she's never even heard of HOD. I'm going to bring her some literature on it, as she requested, but should I be looking into getting another vet?

Spmeone told me about a pet insurance or puppy plan type thing, where you pay monthly and it covers illness and even shots for puppys. Anyone have any advice? Where could I get info? and is it truly worth it?

I am interested in getting a puppy, and I have a lot of time to commit to raising a dog. I need a dog that will be easy to house break, size is not an issue, I prefer larger dogs. I have a very large yard so I can provide plenty of exersize. What would be a good puppy for me?

I think they are very cute and I would like to concider one. But my friend has Boston Terriers and they have such small noses that they make a lot of snorting sounds when they breathe, it gets kinda anoying. I know pugs have small noses as well, do they make the same sounds? Also how much do they usually cost?

Have a 10 week old pup, the breeder had her eating twice a day morning and evening, so thats what I will follow.
At night how often should I take her out? Or should I just use puppy pads in her crate or pen?

I just got a 10 week old boxer pup. I have a pen that i could use in a non-carpeted area in the house and I also have a dog crate that I would like her to get used to. Is it ok to use both? I was thinkng using the pen during the day sometimes with a puppy pad in there just in case and using the crate at night for her to sleep. Will this confuse her? Is it a bad idea to use the ouppy pads in the pen? Last night was her first night with us and she slept on her blanket next to our bed. Should we just put her crate next to our bed? Or is it best to get her used to being in another room in her crate?
