Most puppies can hold it during the sleeping hours, but toy breeds often need a pee break once during the night. If you sleep more, or pup is in crate more than 7 hours, he will perhaps need one early morning break.
.However, I believe your breeder was in error feeding only twice a day. Puppies get more nutrition from their food if fed 3 times daily..In fact, I feed 4 times until 12 weeks, then gradually reduce one mid-day feeding..Then I feed 3 times per day until nearly a year.
Note: during the daytime (waking ) hours, a puppy can only hold his pee for about 1 hour per month of age..To expect more is unrealistic, and if pup is crated, to have to hold it longer than that is unhealthy.

Feeding twice a day or even 3 small meals days is appropriate. Adult dogs should be fed twice a day. Withhold water for about 1 hour before bedtime and through the night and take him out right before bed and first thing upon waking. Your puppy may need to go out once at night since he is little, but the goal is to get him sleeping through the night as soon as possible. If he cries, take him out, but don't get in the habit of taking him out at a regularly scheduled time. Puppy pads should be avoided if the long-term goal is for the dog to go outside all the time.
I suggest crate training to help you with this - see the link below. It is very effective way to teach housebreaking. I had great success with my pup in a very short time.

A 10 wk old pup should be fed 3 times a day. As far as potty time....take your pup out about 15 min after water about 30 - 40 min after food. should take out for potty check about every 1-2 hours. Night time pull food and water about 8 pm and take out before bed. Crating is good. watch for signs....sniffing ground, walking in circles....all my dogs ever did with puppy pads was use them as a chew toy....but worth a try. Never rub nose in accidents and don't punish, only makes the dog afraid to go in front of you. If you notice your pup start to go in house just say no sharply and it should stop long enough for you to get it outside. a coke can with some pennies in it gets attention real well. Praise, praise, praise when it does good, try to stay away from treats when praising.

Using a puppy pad in her crate, or anywhere else for that matter is only going to hinder your training efforts.
Your pup may need to go out a couple times at night for a few weeks. Take her out when she has to go, just do so in a more toned down manner than day time outings. You don't want her thinking its playtime at 1am. Take her out quietly, praise her quietly, and then go straight back to bed.
Soon your pup will sleep through the night without needing to go out.

Do not let her use her pen as a place to potty. Usually 3 times a night is reasonably to take out. Don't feed her after 6:00.You need to be consistent with the time you take her out.Sometime every night. At 4 months it is 1 hour per month they can hold it.After a year they should be able to hold all night unless its a small dog. They just cant wait that long.

every 3 hours to start...Just like a baby, puppys dont control themselves that well, so if theres an accident, its not they're fault. But when you take them out often enough there's no need to housebreak, they just kind of get used to being out that often. Then as the puppy gets older, you can extend the time to 4-6 hours. Any longer than that and you';ll get accidents....No the dogs fault...could you imagine not going to the bathroom for a whole day at work? You'd have a hard time holding it too.

I do not recommend puppy pads. They only teach your dog to go indoors. Rule of thumb is a puppy can hold themselves for 1 hour for each month old it is. A two and a half old pup can hold "it" for roughly 2-1/2 hours.

I would curb his eating at the morning only and take him out at least twice a night, unless you like those puppy pads and you can contain him to that room only.Good luck,I do like to see people taking responsibilty for their pets, good luck and have fun!!
