The best thing is to ignore her when you come in like someone else said. she is peeing because she is showing you submission and is to worked up. When you ignore her she will learn her overly excited way of greeting you is not accepted and will become calmer with your arrival home. It may even be a good idea to train her to go to her bed or to move back from the door as you walk in. Ignore her greeting if it includes being really submissive like rolling over or bowing her head then walk her away from the door and make her sit and maybe a down command too then reward her, and try leaving and returning and having her not be too exicited sit stay down whatever. This sould include no form of punishment or cheering keep quite and confident and speak quitely.

She is still young. She will outgrow this. When our dog did this, we would confine her while we were gone. She hated it at first, but we set her up a cool place with a comfy bed, toys, treats, and her food and water. When she got older, this stopped. She would only do this on very rare occasions when she got scared or overly excited.

I would not punish your dog for these accidents. She will learn that her greeting you when you come home, is a bad thing. If it is possible, open the door without going inside, and call her out to you. This way her accidents will happen outside. If you cannot do this, you can try going out and coming back at increasing intervals. Like on a day off, you could leave for 30 minutes to an hour and come back. Continue this for a couple of times, then increase the time to 1 ½ to 2 hours. If she still pees, move it back a little in time. I believe that she is so excited after being alone all day, that after 8 hours, she cannot wait to see you.

The only other option I can offer is that some cities have Doggy Day Care. They will keep her while you are at work. She will go outside with other dogs and play all day. Some of these centers also offer van pickup. This might backfire on you a little. If she is able to go out more often, she may not be able to hold it.

Good luck!

Unfortunately some pups will get excited and do this. Can anyone take her out while you are gone? The standard is a dog can hold it 1 hour for each month of age.She tries but just cant wait and she knows its time to potty when you come home. If she could get out sooner it will probably take care of the problem.

She is excited to see you, that is why she pees when you come home. Only thing i know that you can do is get her outside as soon as you open the door.

The technical term is submissive urination. It is something young dogs, especially females will sometimes do. They often outgrow it. The best way to prevent it is to avoid big greetings when you come home. Be very calm and greet her very quietly with very little fuss or pay very little attention to her at all. Then quietly take her outside to go potty. Don't yell at her or punish for her "mistake." That will only make the behavior worse. In time hopefully the problem will resolve itself.

it is very common for a female dog to get excited and pee when she sees someone she loves. they normally stop getting excited when they are around nine months however some bitches will get excited and pee for the rest of their lives. you'll just have to persevere and hope that someday you'll come home and your dog doesn't pee with excitement anymore!!
when you walk through the door, make your dog sit as she will find it har to pee when she is sitting down. i hope this is useful for you to know.

Your pup is submission wetting. This is very normal at her age and the best thing you can do is to ignore it completely. It will stop, given time. Do not punish her for this behavior, whatever you do. It will only serve to scare and confuse her and make her even more submissive. Another thing you can do is greet her at her level, not towering over her. This might help to clear the problem up sooner.

Actually it would be better to have your dog stand to avoid peeing. I have a submissive pee-er and she "sits down" to pee. She only does it with men. The best advice you've gotten here so far is to ignore her when you come in the door.

She is just very excited and when puppies are young they do not have the bladder control as adults. Some adult dogs still do the same thing, Its kinda like when you laugh so hard you pee your pants.

She is so happy to see you that she cannot contain herself. I had a dog that I had to take outside to meet people before they came into the house because he got so excited to meet people.
