I think they are very cute and I would like to concider one. But my friend has Boston Terriers and they have such small noses that they make a lot of snorting sounds when they breathe, it gets kinda anoying. I know pugs have small noses as well, do they make the same sounds? Also how much do they usually cost?

Pugs are great, we paid $500 for ours without her papers and looked at a male last year who was $700. Yes they do make snorting sounds some times and ours snores. They have very strong personalities and are very protective.

I wouldn't trade ours for the world.

Pugs are wonderful, sweet, lovable, loyal little dogs. They do require a lot of attention and they want to be with you all the time. They are definately lap dogs! They do snore and snort but I think its really kind of cute. However, they tend to have health problems because of their noses and they cant be in extreme heat ever. If it is over 80 degrees you shouldnt have a pug outside because they cant cool themselves as fast as other dogs. They can get heat stroke easily.
They cost anywhere from $500 to $1200 but there are a lot of pug rescue groups you should try first.
Pugs are the greatest dogs in the world.

I have a Pug...they are great dogs....very loyal and affectionate...they tend to single out one member of a household and act as thier protector...they do have smooshie faces and yes they make noises when asleep mostly....like and similar to snoring....at times when they get over excited they do also make noises but its generally brief...they can cost anywhere between 500$-$2000 depending on where you purchase them...if you are looking for a pet and not a breeding pug your best best is and also cheapest bet is to seek out private homes with them for sale and not breeders, especially if you dont care if they have papers...another option is pug rescue....there are several pug rescues online which you can find on a simple yahoo search....most are adults either abandoned or given up by thier owners....all will be spayed and neutered...if you dont mind an adult pug straight off that is your cheapest alternative and well ya give a cute pug a desperately needed home....Rosie

I got a pug from a family who was not taking care of her. I have never known a sweeter dog. She is fiercely loyal and affectionate. She is smart and was super easy to housebreak. They shed a lot, but regular baths and brushing- which they enjoy, cuts way way down on that. Ours came with her papers because it was from a family, but they can run up to $1000 or more in good, healthy pet shops. You have to be careful of their eyes, they are very sensitive. Pugs do snort and snore, mine often breathes through her mouth in loud gasps, but their big floppy tongues and loving eyes make the sounds negligible. They are an all around great dog. I moved out and my family couldnt giver her away they loved her so much.
