Yes a dog can get a chewing lice...My suggestion to you is to try to get one of the parasites and put it in a ziplock baggie and take it to a vet he or she can then look at it and let you know exactly what it is.
I work in a vet clinic and I have seen many cases of lice, fleas, and maggots...These could all be the case. The best bet is to actually take a samle in. I know that sounds gross but It will let you know exactly what it is...

Hey! Yes dogs can get lice!! Take your dog to a veterinarian and they will "comb" your dog and .. well at our clinic we make a slide and put it under the microscope. Generally seeing people squeamish about what they see (its' really quite interesting to look at) tells you it's lice. It's a hard job though when you find lice to tell the owner... especially when we found pubic lice on a dog... that was the most awkward conversation the vet had ever had with an owner.

I'm not sure if dogs get lice, but I know cats can. I rescued a kitten took her to the vet and along with other health problems she did have lice. I would make a phone call and simply ask the vet's office if dogs do get lice. Good luck.!!!

Head lice (Pediculus humanus) are species-specific, meaning they only like, and are transported by, human heads. Human head lice can only live a very short time off a head, and will not cling to the coarser hairs on a dog's pelt. However, do vacuum the dog's bedding well, and your upholstered furniture, and definitely any carpets in your home. Wash all bedding in hot water and use the hottest setting on your dryer to dry them after

You likely saw adult fleas and baby fleas.
But yes dogs can get lice. Chewing lice are the most common. However Frontline protects agains fleas, ticks, and chewing lice. So if you're seeing bugs..get yourself some frontline dear.

Yes, dogs DO get lice. I work at a kennel and if a dog gets lice we use Revolution on it and it works great. You can get Revolution from your vet or you may be able to get it from PetCo. or PetSmart. But yes, dogs do get lice.
