everytime I go out he barks the entire time I am gone. He is 1 1/2 and it disturbs my neighbors. Has anyone ever had this problem and did you figure out a way to make it stop other then having to move??

Well, you could try a few things. It will take time though. You could try to put him in a crate while you are gone with some good quality, totally digestible chew toys so that he isn't bored when your gone. Another thing is to call pets mart or another trainer and get advice. Usually you can get free advice from Pets Mart and the classes there are not very expensive either. OOOOR, you could get him debarked. It's expensive but a lot of people do it that live in apartments. It's not gauranteed either. Talk to your vet about it.

I've had my pup for about a month, and she threw massive fits when I'd leave. Her whines are more like screams. I have her in the routine that when I leave, I make sure she's got her bed, water, and lots of toys to play with and keep her in our laundry room. JUST before I walk out I give her a rawhide chew (takes her maybe 2 minutes to devour!) and by the time she realizes I'm gone, she's a happy girl!

If you have your pup crate trained, use that, and lock him up before you leave, but make sure you let him know you're coming back, and it's ok to be in there. Give him a treat and teach him he isnt there to be punished, and that it can be fun and rewarding. This way, eventually (maybe not right away) he will realize THIS is his home, this is where he's safe, and make sure he's got his favorite toys, new treats, or whatever. He'll get the idea. Maybe get him a new treat, or toy everytime you're out and he will realize "mommy brings me new things when she's gone!" Mine did, and almost expected it everytime! oops... lol

Good luck with it.

You have to discover which reason you dog is barking for. If he is lonely, you might get him a friend. If he hears or smells another dog, you may have to work it out. If he is scared of something that he hears, discover what that is.

He could feel anxious and cooped up. Try walking or running with him for 30 minutes at night, and maybe 30 minutes before you go to work. If you can only walk once, try the walk in the morning to give him a little exercise, so that he might sleep during the day.

Try giving your dog a kong stuffed with some peanut butter and treats right before you walk out the door. This will distract the dog for at least a few minutes and occupy his time with something tasty and interesting. When your dog finishes eating his treat he may forget that you're gone or realize that it's not so bad since he got something yummy.

Your pup I believe is having some separation anxiety issues. How you stop him from barking is a hard one. Maybe put him a doggie daycare while you're out.
Good luck.
