Have you ever seen an adult dog suckle on a stuffed toy or toss pillow? I have a female Doberman that does this to toss pillows that I buy especially for her. She even needs the pillow with her paws at the same time. Any ideas why she does this? I do think it is cute!!!!

This dog ( De-si-er) is ten years old, didn't even start this till she was about 5-6 yeras old. I didn't get her from her parents until she was about 10 weeks old. I don't have a problem with her doing it I just wonder why she does. I currently have two other Dobies and in the past had 6 others and she is the only one.

My oldest chihuahua was hand raised by us. He's almost 7 years old now and he still wants to suck on our fingers just like he did when he was a baby.

My dog did the same thing untill she was 2.

It usually happens to animals if they were taken away from their mom at a young age. They have tendencies that they have not outgrown (i.e. suckeling) and feel the need to do it forever.

She was improperly weaned.
