I just read a question where someone said that her 17 week old bichon just finished up his shots and she took him out for the first time. I take my pup (also bichon) out now and she is only 10 weeks....is this too early.....she is up to date with all of her shots and is not due for more until April 1st. Is it okay for her to be out?!?!?

We got her yesterday, so its been about 24 hours. She wouldnt eat her food and has not eaten since she left her breeder and I have been watching her and she has not even had any water either since we got her. I showed her where her food was, purchased the same brand and did what the breeder told me witht the food. She doesnt seem interested. She was playful last night and this morning and now just sleepy.
Could she be ill, or is this normal behavior?

I have a 2 year old male Belgian Malinois (looks like a short haired German Shepherd but a little smaller) dog, named Heinz. He is a great dog - very smart, trains quickly, athletic. I feel like he's bored hanging around our yard. We got him to help guard the house, and he's so active that he does a great job at that. He "patrols" well walking around the yard a lot and checking on everything. He doesn't bark a lot, but he jumps very high and will repeatedly jump to look over the wall at people (and dogs) who are walking by. With people gone all day from the house, I feel like he gets bored and doesn't get as much attention as he would like. He's so smart, that I feel like it's almost a waste for him to just be our watchdog. I feel like he "needs a job" or something. Any suggestions?

My parents have a wonderful 4yr old labrador - Daisy. She's very friendly and tame. Sits when she's told, and doesn't even bark!! Really is the model Labrador! Ticks all the boxes!

Situation - We got her from a rescue home. The reason for being there was that she killed the previous owner's young child's rabbit. I believe it too, she chases them (and has caught 1 or 2). Not maliciously, just playfully (poor rabbit). She chases cats in the same way.

Problem - My girlfriend and I want to get a cat for our new place but want Daisy to be able to come and stay when needed.

Any advice??

Thanks

Especially for apartment living! I need ideas for a dog that: gets along with other people and dogs well, one that doesn't bark much, one that doesn't need alot of exercise, one that can be left alone for long periods of time, and one that can be easily trained.

Because of his syptoms, the vet suspects kidney failure and asked me what brand of dog food I have been feeding him. I have been feeding him the Iams packets, chicken flavor. The vet said there is a recall on this food. Is anyone else experiencing this with their dog?

On this review site there are a few comments about Orijen pet food being owned by Blue Buffalo. I haven't heard of either company before. What's wrong with the Blue Buffalo company?

I tell her(Chelsea) to come sit, and she sits in front of me, then I say Chelsea come and i move my left leg behind me, she then sits to my left side, I move my left leg back as normal, then I give her a treat and praise. The question is, if she is not sitting perfectly straight forward at my left side do I still treat and praise? Sometimes she is sitting at a slight angle.

I have had my puggle since he was 8 weeks old. He is a really good puppy ( I think) except for the housetraining thing. He sleeps in a kennel and stays in the kennel while I am at school during the day. He never goes to the bathroom in his kennel. We take him out about every 30 to 45 minutes and he will go to the bathroom everytime. . . Then we come in and not less than 15 minutes later he has gone in the house. He has been pooping in the house about 2 times a day. He will go in the hall or under the couch. I tell him "no no!!" and take him straight outside. He pees 2-3 times also. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have 3 small children and he is really great with them. He is very playful. I just really need help with the pottytraining thing!!!! Please help!!

My dogs have always been my children. Meiko, the alpha mail of the pack is closest to me. He has done Pet Therapy at hospitols and is GREAT around people/children. Enter...Corbin, our 20 month old son. We have been slowly integrating the dogs with Corbin. He has been able to pet them and all is well. Now, Corbin wants to pinch, poke and pull. The other 2 dogs tolerate this, Meiko does not. He has tried to bite 3 times now...fortunately we are right there to stop it. Meiko get scolded and is sent to his bed.
Does anyone have advice on how to deal with this? Corbin is my son and comes first, but...Meiko is my other son. If he ever bit Corbin I would die! Please advise.

My lab has been acting strange for a while now. She is fully potty trined, wonderful with the kids, an indoor dog, and is almost 10 years old. She is up to date on her shots. I don't want to take her in to vet if it is nothing, but wanted to see if anyone has experienced this or knows of someone's dog who has.

Okay, she has been peeing all over the house lately. (Very Unusual!) She get up from a spot she's been laying in and the spot is soaked!

About 20 minutes ago she came running out of the bedroom and ran into the wall, turned around and ran into another wall...all while stumbling around. AT first I thought she was chasing something, but then I realized there was nothing there. At that point she was very shaky and legs were giving out. (Reminded me of Bambi learning to walk) She came over to me and just laid down. She is still alert when I say her name, but she is still kind of shaky and acting strange. Can anyone help me figure out what this might be? Thanks.

The dog is a six year old coonhound. She is a foster dog from the local SPCA. She is absolutely great with kids and people, however does not get along with other dogs. I found her a potential great home on a farm, the only problem is that there are three other dogs. I tried to socialize her with my neighbors friendly cockerspanial, but when he got to close to her she snapped at him. Then the dog ran away. I figured that maybe I could help her get socialized with other dogs (without worrying about her harming them) by muzzling her around the other dogs (while watching them closely). Is this a good idea. My roomate says that doing this is cruel because it takes away her natural defenses and because she is old. Could my idea work?
Should I do it?

Thanks for your help

He's about a year old and very friendly with my girlfriend and I, but is VERY shy around my roommates, and gets scared very easily in the house.

He's new to house (been here for about a month or so).

How can I get him to open up to my roommates and other guests who come into the house?

Does this make you as mad as it does me? I mean questions like- "Theres brown gue coming out of my dogs butt, and it smells bad-any ideas what it is?" or "Tell me a funny storie about your dog couse im board"! or even "My dog is chocking to death, do you think i should take it to the vet" It really angers me because then theres the poeple asking real questions like "What brand of foods are on recall" or "What supplies do i need for my dog when she gives birth?"
Please your thoughts about these poeple? And do you think they should even be in the DOG catagoirie-let alone Y!Answers?
