Because of his syptoms, the vet suspects kidney failure and asked me what brand of dog food I have been feeding him. I have been feeding him the Iams packets, chicken flavor. The vet said there is a recall on this food. Is anyone else experiencing this with their dog?

Chopper spent the night at the vets and is home today. He has to go back every 3 days for blood work because the last dog the vet recently treated for this had ok blood work and he sent dog home and it died 7 days later. Thank you for all your kind words.

I heard the news about the recall of this food and yes there were some dog and cat owners who were experiencing kidney failure... I am so sorry to hear about your dog.

When I had a jack russel she became ill and it was her kidneys, the vet kept her and started IV's for I think 4 days. When I got her back she was happy and healthy but I had to feed her a certian kind of food forget now what it was called but I got it from the vet. She passed away many years ago.

Here is a link with the story on the recall and after this is a site you can go see a complete list of the recalled products and a phone # as well...

The link to the site-----

The link and # for a list of the recalled products---

http://www.menufoods.com/recall . The company also designated two phone numbers that pet owners could call for information - (866) 463-6738 and (866) 895-2708 - but callers kept the lines busy for much of Saturday.

Good luck and please let us know how things turn out..

Unfortunately there are many owners facing this right now. There have been some deaths as well. The "fallout" from this recall could last awhile, as the liver and kidney damage caused by the products may not be apparent in some pets right away.

I wish the best for you and your pet, keep us updated on how your dog is doing.

Chocolate is extremely poisonous to canines. I used to artwork at an emergency vet and observed a ton of canines got here in for chocolate poisoning. i understand vet's are costly yet your canines is suffering. you could desire to take him.
