Yes pugs are great and very easy to train. I have never had a dog that learned so fast.
Pros: They are very affectionate dogs.
They do not require a lot of exercise
Happy just watching tv with you
the most animated facial expressions of any dog breed.
Get along with most other dogs and people.
Eat little food.
Cons:
They are prone to obesity (must watch weight closely)
Get very sad if you can't spend alot of time with them.
Will follow you everywhere. Never leave you alone.
Can grow up with eye and leg problems.

Pugs are very affectionate and often smart dogs. Just like any breed, each is an individual.
We have never had a problem with housetraining but have talked with other Pug owners who seemed to think they weren't that easy. Again, I think it comes down to the individual Pug and the consistency of training.
When looking for a Pug, please be sure to research the breeder or rescue before committing to them.
The "cons" would be that they do indeed require attention and affection. They are "companion dogs".. which means they NEED companionship. -- Another is that they shed... all the time. I just bathed my little guys and brushed them out and when they shook off, a cloud of hair came off.
Some people also have issues with their snoring and snorting.
To me, they are just adorable, loving, little clowns with a beautiful smile and a party favor tail!

I love pugs, they are great dogs.
Like any dog, it will depend on the individual dogs as to how well they housetrain, but pugsd are reasonably smart dogs and generally train easily. They are good with children and are not known for being aggressive. They are cuddely dogs and love to curl up on a lap.
Some small little cons or considerations with pugs:
The males are some of the most highly sexed dogs you can get, so unless you want to watch him trying to make love with legs, cushions and just about anything else, get him neutered.
They are tiny and it is easy to step on them or shut a door on them.
They are purebreds so they will be a little more highly strung then mutts
Basically pugs are wonderful and you made a good choice

Hello I bought a pug for my daughters 8th b-day.
We crate trained him and he did very well, he is a very good listener, takes commands very well. It took my daughter 3 days and he was already sitting when told, fetching, walking with her, staying when told etc, he picked it up quite quickly.
He is also very protective over us if me or my husband is not around are daughter and if someone comes over he doesnt know he get quite mad (he thinks he is the bigger dog on the block) he is also very gentle with are 2 yr never jumps on him etc.
Very loveing, enjoys playing. I must honestly say he has been a very good loyal dog, and we are truly happy we bought him.
I say pugs come HIGHLY recommended. I havent got one con about the pug (unless you considered light snoring a con =) )

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/BNwiW
If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.
It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.
