Here are a few that are good: Solid Gold, Wellness, Canidae, Timberwolf Organics, Innova, and Artemis Fresh Mix, there are several more but these are really good foods. They may be a bit pricey initially but they come out cheaper because you feed less. These are 100% human grade dog food with NO corn, wheat, soy, grain fractions, fillers or by products – and naturally preserved.

The link I have provided sells dog food online but you can also look up the ingredients (on this site) to any of the ones I have listed plus any other dog foods you may be interested in, they have many brands listed.
The best thing you can do is research the different brands. Meat should be the first ingredient and the foods should NOT contain corn, wheat, soy, beef or by-products and it should also be made from human grade ingredients.

There are several good foods out there. I personally use Eagle Pack for my dogs. I hear great things about Innova, Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul, Wellness, and California Natural. I know Petco is starting to sell better brands so you might be able to find some of these there.

Many popular dog food brands are -- and sorry if this is harsh -- crap.
I would not trust vet. endorsed food either -- there are occasions where the clinic is paid to do so. I'm not kidding, seen it happen at our local one.
All the foods Shepardgirl mentioned are great. Blue Buffalo is a higher-end quality as well and that's all I have to add.
I suggest this site to you -- www.dogfoodproject.com
Dang near best resource to have when nosing around for a healthy food.

Any that are available in vet surgeries basically (veterinary endorsed). Many that are available at vets are also available in pet stores, I'm not trying to say only buy prescription stuff!
Hills are very good, they do a good range of adult and puppy maintenance, as well as all their prescription stuff. Most of the commerical stuff you can buy, like Pedigree Chum and Caesar is very yummy for your dog but not especially healthy, particularly for breeds that are predisposed to obesity, like labradors and spaniels!

Only the canned or pouch dog foods were recalled, so as long as you stick with the dry food, you should be okay. We use Nutro (which was also recalled), but only the dry kind. Seems to work well for our dogs.
