My cat has just been diagnosed with Addison's. This disease affects dogs (and humans). It is extremely rare in cats.

There are only 17 recorded cases in the vets manual produced by the BSAVA.

If there is anybody out there with an Addison's cat - I am interested in sharing information.

I have found the following website very helpful. It was designed for canines but there is a good links page for felines:

My cat ate the Hill's m/d which was recalled, sheis been on it since last summer and doesn't show any symtoms from the food. The vet said it was voluntary recall which means that they think its okay, but are recalling anyways because it contain "wheat gluten" Has anyone else fed their cat the Hill's m/d?

My daughter was annoying the cat as usual, and then she squashed her so much that my cat meowed very loudly and then started squeaking and sticking her bum in the air. She's been extra friendly (which I like) but I'm concerned. Is my cat in heat, or has she been injured?

My 9 month old kitten has developed a really weird habit of growling and blowing at our older cat. He usually does this when he is carrying his favourite toy mouse. Now i know that he is trying to protect his toy but i have never known a cat to blow down his nose and "huff" while growling!

At first i thought he was just breathing with the toy in his mouth but now i have seen him do it without it. Does anyone elses cat do this???

She has made 100's of escape attempts, so I think she just has a free spirit, so to speak. I think she is happy with us. She is very loving and affectionate. But I worry if I let her out something might happen to her or maybe she just won't come back.
So what is your opinion? If she is fixed and up to date on her shots, and I provide proper flea and tick protection, should I let her be an indoor/outdoor cat? I've heard some scary stories about cat luekemia and that it is contagious (not sure if there is truth to that, but I could ask my vet). And what are the odds that she might just decide not to come back, in which we would be heartbroken. We have had her for over a year now. We also have another cat. If we let one out, will the other want to go out too?

I feed my cat wet and dry food every day. I get the Nutro Natural brand, which is a little expensive but healthier than most others brands. I give her about a quarter of a can in the morning and a quarter at night. I also make sure theres always dry food. I only give her a little bit of wet food so shes still hungry and has to eat some dry food. My vet is very much against wet food at all. I was wondering how other vets feel about it?

The boxes are kept clean everyday and there are no other cats in the house. She will do # 1 in the boxes but #2 is on the floor in the same area everyday. I have tried amonia and even tried placing the box in the area she is going but she will find a new area on the floor.

Had a few quick questions.

1. Just adopted a kitten. What shots does a kitten need right away, she was born on Feb 6, and has not had anything done yet.

2. Anything that actually works to reduce allergies? I don't want to get rid of her.

3. Her nails are so long. I don't want to get her declawed, anything that will help?

I just read the news in PETA and it is news that everyone should read about the recall. There is more information about the recall and what is going to happen.

I have 2 cats, a 5 year old female cat and a 9-month old female kitten. I feed them each about 1/4 cup dry food in the morning and 1/4 cup dry at dinner time (each 1/2 cup/day). First, is this too little food? My older cat used to be overweight and is still a pretty good size (11 lbs.) so I decreased the amount I used to feed her to keep her weight down; I feed the kitten about the same.

Second, my kitten is a bully when it comes to food. She'll push the other cat out of the way, eat her food, and try to eat the dog's food as well (we feed him at the same time). Sometimes we'll find the kitten inside the food bin eating (we keep it in the pantry, sometimes she sneaks in). Any time we go in the kitchen, she meows for food. She's ALWAYS hungry. Is this normal or am I not feeding her enough?
The vet says they're fine in weight, but the both look bigger than normal cats.

Please help - my outdoor cat (Siamese, 2 year old) was scratched by another male cat. The wounds now appear to be infected and since I am out of work and unable to afford a trip to the vet, I'm desperate to find something over-the-counter or homemade that may help his infection. He didn't eat for two days, but did eat food this morning. He is sleeping a lot and I know the infection may be getting the best of him. I can only hope he heals, but if anybody out there knows something that may help him, I'd be truly grateful. Being an outdoor cat, he is subject to the nasty elements, but he does have a nice shelter, fresh water, real food - all he needs now is antibiotics (which nobody will give me for him) to help him with the infection. Can anybody help? Thank you!!!

She still uses the litter box it's just time to time she will pee on the comfortor. She has not been fixed yet either, and as far as I know has no medical problems. My husband and her get along really well too.

I found four kittens in my backyard and they are too young for solid food. They still drink their mom's milk but she left them. What can I feed them without having to go to a store until I find them a home?
