Cats can go outside if you don't mind them roaming. You can't teach a cat to stay in the yard like you can a dog. They don't like to be walked on a leash, and they will learn to use a litter box. (Dogs generally won't.)

There is no reason why cats can not go out side to go to the bathroom. Well that is unless he tries to run away, or climb a tree. My cat has a litter box, and she stays inside. I have let her out side on pretty sunny days, and usually the first thing she does it use the bathroom, I kinda think she likes going outside better than she likes using her litter box.

Cats can go outside. Dogs don't bury like cats so a litter box would not work.

Dogs aren't as hygeinic as cats, and since a cat's smaller, it's easier to teach them to use a certain thing like litter tray for when they're inside. If you've taught your cat about dogs, they are no risk since a cat with claws is far faster than any dog.
If you teach your cat properly outside isn't a problem, since inside can be as dangerous as outside, with people carrying diseases in, household items can be dangerous not to mention most indoor plants being hallucinogenic.

You can train a cat to go outside to do his business. Just open the door and he'll soon get the idea and probably scratch on the door when he wants to go out. You can also train a cat to use the toilet...they perch on the side and do their business. But they don't flush...:)

Don't ever take for granted the intelligence of a cat. Godloveya.

Because cats are mainly indoor animals all the time and rarely go outside and they are more likely to run off and not come back and a fence cant keep a cat in the yard they can climb it.

Cats are better off staying inside the home.

They can pick up any number of diseases from outside, not to mention running the risk of getting killed or injured by a dog or a human.
