ISIS (eye-sis) who was an egyptian cat goddess! Bast, also another egyptian cat goddess! Onyx is another possibility! I could list many but these are my favorites! If I had a black cat I would go with isis... Im not into naming my animals after food (to me its kind of corny or striperella)! Go with what you like, its your cat!

Waffles sounds good:) Pancakes sounds like it would be a girl cat's name. The best name for a cat is one chosen by the one who will be caring for the cat (in this case, you) If it's chosen with love and affection, then it's a perfect name :)

Both ''Pancakes'' & ''Waffles'' would be more suitable, if the cat was a tan color.
I best color/food related cat name I've come across, is Blackberry.
But personally, I would never name a pet after a food item. I prefer naming them after characters in movies......like, for a black cat....
Maybe name him after the black panther from ''The Jungle Book''. Bagheera.

I would name you cat lucky because every one always says that a black cat is a sign of bad luck but I have always had really good luck. So I would name it lucky but then again if you name it waffles you can call it wally. But it is completely up to you.

Waffles is better. Do you really want to walk the streets calling out "Pancakes" when you are trying to find him?
