Hi. I am an avid animal lover and feel horrible about what happened. I would never ever hurt an animal so please know this was an accident. I was cutting a matted piece of fur from my himalayan and by accident cut his whiskers. I feel soooooooooooo bad and I know what they are used for. I just need to know if they will grow back and did I hurt him? I have never ever done this before and I'm really sorry. He still loves me and doesn't seem to have any different behavior.
Thanks guys. I really love being on here!! Really cool people!!

i lost one of my 2 cats 3 wks ago to cancer, and i still have her brother. I don't think he noticed too much at first that she's gone apart from at meal times as i had my friends cat as well while they were out of the country. But they took her home on thursday (3 days ago) and so now he's alone in the house (all my cats have been indoor kitties for obvious reasons) while i'm at work and when i've got home for the last 2 nights i can hear him crying/calling as i'm putting the key in the door and it's really worrying me. -- I didn't want to get any more 'cos it's too upsetting to lose them but i don't know what to do for Jess, he's 12yrs old and has never been a lone cat. should i wait a while and see if he adapts or just get another kitty to keep him company? and would they get along??

This is a pretty rediculous question, but I want to know if you wash out your cat's litter box when you do a litter change. A friend of mine (who also has a cat) and I somehow got to talking about how I wash my cat's box out completely with antibacterial soap and hot water. Apparently I am crazy for doing this :-P Though it's not very pleasant, it makes a lot more sense to clean the whole box if you're going to be putting in all new litter. Anyone else do the same?

My baby kitten died just because my housemaid didnt feed it. All this time i was thinking that she would feed the kitten when my mother and I could not. I got so busy with my final projects and my mother was always out of the house these past days. Now that i'm officially on vacation, time to make up for the kitty....and I just learned that my kitty died! aaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!! I even planned to take pictures of it this afternoon!! I confronted her and she told me that she didnt feed the kitten coz she didn't like it... !!! Ugh, i'm mad at her even more!! How could she stand a baby kitten crying and wanting to be fed and just ignore it all the time?! Grrrr.... She could have just told me she wouldnt feed it!!

I am not sure how it got there, it does not look like it has been ran over. Also my neighbor said he saw some coons in his yard a week ago but it does not look like it was killed like that. Can I just put it in the trash or what?

I adopted my cat from a coworker who was leaving the area. When I got her, she was wearing Soft Claws on front and back, and I just let them fall off on their own. As they came off, I noticed that her claws didn't look quite right, and they are always out. She has snagged on the carpet, on the furniture, and once tried to jump off the couch only to find herself hooked. She freaks out a little until I come and unhook her. I really don't care that she scratches the furniture and I wasn't going to have her declawed (she is 3 years old), but now I think maybe I should consider it. Has anyone else had this problem with Soft Claws? I feel so bad about declawing, but I would probably look into the laser surgery...I don't know. Any suggestions?

One of his pupils is average size for the condition of light he is under, but the other one is really small. I've noticed it a bit in the last couple of days but today it is OBVIOUS. The one that is smaller seems to get sort of big really fast but then it goes back to being small right away.

My wife has tried to train the cats to use the toilet instead of a litter box and they are about ready to revolt and throw us out of the house.

What kind of luck have any of you had with self cleaning litter boxes? I have heard bad things about the Littermaid but the 'Cat Genie' and 'Litter Robot' look promising.

Early in March, I adopted a 7-month-old kitten and had her spayed. We already have an 11-month-old male tabby, who was neutered a week ago. The two of them are now chasing each other around the house and occasionally batting at each other, with and without claws. Their ears will twitch and sometimes the female will hiss half-heartedly if the male gets too close. There is no sign of aggression or anger, no growling. He will wander the house meowing loudly as if looking for her. The only thing I worry about is that ear twitching and jumpiness. This seems like an odd game of Hide and Seek. Is this playtime and getting to know each other, or should I watch out for scratching and biting?

My neighbor, who lives half a mile away, keeps a number of barn cats to catch mice and rats. I don't think he feeds the cats, because one of them has been hanging out on my doorstep all winter, crying for food. I do feed it, but can't adopt it as an indoor cat because of allergies. With spring coming, I also don't want an outdoor cat using my food garden as his litter box. I have been thinking about finding it a home with cat-loving friends, but I can't tell the owner, because he says it's his best hunting cat, even though it spends most of its time on my doorstep. I need to be on good terms with my neighbor. The cat would just "disappear".

Is this an unethical thing to do? I feel so sorry for this cat, who is friendly but very skinny and miserable. The neighbor is a very nice person, too. I know there would be a lot of trouble if he found out I stole his cat. I would welcome ideas and comments.

My cat Smudge has been with me ever since she was a 6 week old kitten, she's almost 15 years old now, and I may have to get rid of her, because my Dad has no immune system anymore, because he's had a lung transplant.
My fiance up in Norfolk, VA said he'd be happy to have my cat and would give her a good home, and a friend of my dad's who lives locally here said the same thing, but I'm wondering if, due to Smudge's age (she'll be 15 on July 24), if the kinder thing to do would be to have her euthanized.
The cat's a very healthy one, which is why I wouldn't want to have her put down, but I don't want her to be too stressed out by going to another home, because she's been with me so long, so I want to do what's best for her.

I have a 10 year old female, Silver mix Egyptian Mau cat. She is beautiful, and I've always wanted to breed her with a similar cat. Though circumstances prevented me from finding her a breeder in the past, I wonder if its too late for her to have kittens now. She's in excellent health and acts like a one-year old cat. Does anyone know someone who has a male Egyptian Mau mix cat? Thanks :)

My cat in the last year has started defacating where she sleeps or chairs she sits in. The furniture is all the same and nothing has changed in the house. She will go two or three weeks and then start again. She always uses the litter box for urination and sometimes defacation, but then reverts to the bed, chair or under a bed for defacation only. we have two cats, they have been around each other for 7 years and we have three litter boxes. I have taken her to the vet and he told me there is nothing physically wrong with her it is a behavorial problem, any ideas????
