Summer is coming and I NEED to leave my windows open at night. I see a lot of questions about scratching but does anyone know about cats using their teeth to get through a screen? I also live on the ground/basement level so I am also concerned about bugs and other critters getting through the big holes my cat leaves in his wake....HELP!!

BESIDES the overpopulating we're seeing everywhere, what other valid reasons are there to fix a cat? What benefits are there? Let's hear from as many professionals as possible on this one, it goes along with another question about declawing that I have.

My cat had 2 kittens on 3-26(last one born at 4pm).She had them on my bed under my blanket.I changed the bedding and washed the matress the best I could around 8pm that night and flipped the matress over. When I did all this I put the mother cat and her 2 kittens in the closet. When I remade the bed and went to bed at 2am she brought the kittens out of the closet and put them on me all night. She had them on my chest, belly and legs and under the blanket. On 3-27 I had to go to the store.I locked her and the kittens(I hated to do this) in the closet because the kittens kept crawling close to the edge of the bed.Came home and she had 2 more kittens that she just gave birth to.She kept trying to put those kittens(the 2 new ones) on my lap.Everytime I go into my room she comes out of the closet with a kitten in her mouth and if I get near the bed she puts the kitten on my bed and goes to get another one.I never knew a cat to be like this.

I've noticed on most cats, there is a tiny bald spot on their heels on their hind feet. Does it serve a purpose or is it just one of those unknown strange facts about cats?

my cat is pregnant. this is her third litter.she came to us when she was pregnant with her 1st litter. well she had 2 baby kittens the 1st time, 4 kittens the 2nd litter, and we dont know how many this time.we decided to get her spayed after she has her babys. shes been doing great until now. shes real big and i think is in the last 2weeks of her pregnancy, but somethings is wrong wit her. she has a bump right on the side of her spine in the middle it almost looks as if its on her spine. she got this about 2days ago. well today i barely noticed it but my mom said she saw it 2days ago but wasnt worried about it. she just woke up and i was petting her i accidently touched thta bump and noticed that its a rash but its bumpy and its very hard and that white pulp is comming out of it. what could it be??? i mean i hope its not a baby stuck up there or something. please help!thankyou!

I just recently posted about wanting a kitten. If the mother is siamese, the father is an orange tiger, what does that make the kitten? It is gray, white feet, and lit white on his neck. but what exactly is he called?

I have two cats - one LOVES the post and used it as soon as I brought it in the house. The other refuses. I also had a flat one that comes in a box from walmart, thinking she liked scratching horizontally better, but she wouldn't use that either. I'm not overly worried about the couch or carpet as they are both really old and need replacing, but I'd prefer she use the post, or something else equally appropriate. And she doesn't scratch them all that often to begin with. I've tried spraying the post with catnip spray and rubbing it with dried catnip. I even took her paws in my hands and lightly rubbed them on the post. She just doesn't seem to understand what she's supposed to do. I clip their nails about every two weeks and I absolutely refuse to declaw. Any suggestions would be helpful.

My long hair (mutt) cat keeps getting mats in his fur. If we try to brush them out he just gets agressive (because it hurts too much), so we've been thinking about shaving him (especially since it's getting hotter and he hates the heat). We can't go to a groomer because he's too agressive with them, is there any way that we can ease him into getting his fur cut by us? We've tried cutting off little bits and showing him, letting him sniff it, but that isn't really working.

There these bugs that are only in my carpet and you cannot seen them. However they bite and it hurts. This only starts around 5:pm and they bite through your clothes. When you feel them it feels sometime like a piece of crumb that it so small. Then when you try to pick it up to examine it, they disappear. It is crazy-what on earth is this and how do I get rid of them. Last year I used moth balls and it work but it kept my nostril burning!

They are exactly a week old and I was wondering when they will open their eyes. I've read anywhere from 7-10 days, but was just wondering how long it took for yall's kittens to open their eyes.

Thanks.

I have two male cats and I don't know if it is only one of them or both, that have been doing their business in other places besides the cat litter box. It drives me crazy because I haven't caught them in the act but I hate the stench. Anyone got any good tips in stopping this kind of behavior?

Give me a reasons why a cat should stay inside vs a cat the is living outside.

My cat is an indoor cat because i live in the area where there are coyotes and other wild animals like bears that come down from the mountains . The people have been told to keep there animals in from the Forest Rangers.

* First of all, to let you know, my kitten IS fixed*
My kitten used to be the most cuddly and loveable kitty you ever would meet. He would stay in my arms for half an hour happily while i walked around doing chores. He would crawl under my covers and sleep right by my pillow at night. He would constantly go in my lap, and loved it when i carried him around.

Now that hes 5 months old, his personality has changed. He doesnt like it when i pick him up and always tries to crawl out of my arms. He doesnt follow me around anymore, and doesnt sleep on my bed. He doesnt crawl in my lap as much, and when i gently pick him up and put him in my lap and pet him, he usually walks away. He isnt totally unsociable, and still loves to be pet and purrs, but he just isnt the same. He has regular vet visits, so i dont think its anything medical.

Why is my kitty doing this? Is there anything i can do to get his old personality back?

I haven't seen anyone listing any medical reasons to declaw a cat, all of them have been purely superficial (furniture, which is simply a trainable matter, plus the cost of declawing is far more than the cost of a scratching post), kids (teach your cat to play nice as well as your kids), etc. For what valid MEDICAL reasons should one declaw? I'd like to hear from vet techs, vets, not people who can't be bothered to train their animals and think of alternatives.

I have this cat that i've been havin for the last 3 months or so. she was an alley cat i brought her in when it was freezing in chicago. But i noticed that she doesnt meow at all. not even if there is no food in the bowl. Is that normal? my other cats practically talk to me if their food bowl is empty? she just looks at me and its such a sweetheart.

I have had my kitten for going on a month now and it is scared of me and my partner, it always gets under the couch or in places we can't reach it.

It is fine with my dog and loves playing with it, but as soon as we go near it, it runs away.

I've tried nurturing it everyday for about 30 mins but the whole time I'm giving it pats it is trying to get away. It won't even come out when it is time to feed it, instead it eats when we are asleep, My partner is getting really fed up with it.

Anyone got any ideas on how to get it to like us?
