Happy New Year everyone? Remember I asked about a question about my brother's two cats and my cat in August 2006, and he wants to try it at my home. Well it happened this New Year's Weekend. What does it mean when a cat makes a "mournful" whine, when she sees another cat who meows in cat talk? My mom and I wants to know, since my cat's making the "mournful" whine and never done it before. Even with the door closed and a gate in front of her with bubble wrap, before she met one of my brother's cat, she made the same sound at night. Sweet Pea always wagged her tail. Does it mean she's lonely for some cat companionship or something else? She did hiss one, when my mom thought she squeezed her, when she's in her arms. BTW, the other cat is hiding still behind the drawer in my old bedroom with boxes. Any cat experts who knows what it means in cat talk would be deeply appreciated, and might be awarded 10 points.

I have 4 cats. They seem to come to me.My oldest had a mother and my youngest had a mother(raised by their mommys)however the other 2 didnt. One was found at about 4 months (stray) and the other was abandoned and I raised the whole litter until 8 weeks.I bottled fed them and all. That one in particular is very sweet but doesnt like to be touched unless its just her belly(on her terms) so I think its because they didnt have the nurture of their mothers..What do you think?

Do you or people you know try to treat cats more naturally ? I'm trying to assess how popular this is now in the usa.

Do you read pet food ingredients or feed real foods?

Do you give yearly vaccines, use natural alternatives for illness?

Do you try to limit or avoid using strong chemical household cleaners, pesticides, flea treatments?

i have 2 8-year old female domestic shorthair cats (indoor) and all they do is sleep all day. i tried using a lazer pointer but they just ignore it and dont bother to chase it (one of them sort of bats at it and SOMETIMES jumps). They dont play with little toys and i cant get them to eat catnip. i have to run after them to get them to move. they're otherwise healthy cats. could they be depressed because they're indoor cats? what can i do to make them play?

1) how old is your cat?
2) what do you feed him (primarily wet canned food or dry kibble)?
3) any bouts with UTI or similar kidney-urinary tract problems?

My cat is 13 and healthy for her age. When she sleeps sometimes I will look over and she is twitching very bad. Sometimes her whole body vibrates and she makes growling sounds. Should I be worried?

I've recently rescued a colony of cats! All are getting along really well except for 1, who is so scared, constantly over reacts in a violent manner! She's been in a mesh tent for a number of weeks, looking pretty comfy...many of hte kitties have spent nights lying beside the tent to keep her company. While she was in there, she'd often hiss & spit at the cats (& me at times) if we came close. It's obvious to me that she's EXTREMELY frightened, and when she hears a noise she strikes out without thinking. She once scratched me (very minor) & looked very remorseful immediately after. I let her out of hte tent 2 days ago for hte first time and things did not go well! She attacked a number of cats, including many that had been very nice to her while she was in there. Last night she put a claw into one of hte kitties eyes, so now she's back in the tent. Any ideas how to get her safely mixing with the others? Only people experienced with feral cats please answer!

I have a cat, about 1 year old, she has been fixed, and is an indoor outdoor cat. Usually she is pretty timid, and while she does get that don't bother me attitude, she is always a nice cat.

This afternoon she started acting strange, when I would pick her up she would meow over and over, almost like she is pain. I checked her out trying to look for bite marks or perhaps other problems but could not find any. During this examination she hissed at me several time (first time she has ever done that). She is not limping or anything, and she has just been hiding out on the bed where no one would mess with her. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this. If it continues I am going to take her into the vet on Tuesday when they open.

I have this cat that is just so opposite my other cat. I posted on here last week about him doing things at night and we're not getting enough sleep. This is still happening. He wants outside, but I don't want tto let him out. He's starting to tear things up (blinds, getting on counters, knocking things over to get in the windows---which he is not allowed, etc) my other cat does not do any of these things, period, naturally. I mean, she's never done anything bad, naturally. This other cat is just wild or something. When you're petting him, or you're sitting on the couch reading or something, he's the best....he's really lovable, and that's the only reason I haven't kicked him out--I know there is a great cat in there somewhere. He's neutered, I thought that would calm him down but it hasn't. He's had a full exam and they say he's fine-he looks fine. What can I do? I don't want to give up ! Help!!!Serious answers only please sick answers will be reported to moderator!
