My cat is 13 and healthy for her age. When she sleeps sometimes I will look over and she is twitching very bad. Sometimes her whole body vibrates and she makes growling sounds. Should I be worried?

Believe it or not, this is totally normal, your cat is dreaming and that was a natural nerve reaction. Nothing to worry about. My cat do this all the time when she sleeps. You can even hear him 'snore' if you really listen. Take care.

It's normal for cats to twitch during sleep. I had a cat that did that as well. However, there is a very small possibility that your cat is having small seizures, but it's unlikely that these would only happen during sleep. As long as the twitching is small and your cat's entire body doesn't stiffen, and as long as she's not showing any signs of illness such as vomiting, lethargy, weight loss, or loss of appetite when she's awake, she's most likely just fine. If you have any concerns about seizures or other health problems, your veterinarian can perform a thorough examination of your cat to ensure that she's healthy.

do not be concerned...dreaming. We have twitches. also, its called REM (Rapid Eye Movement). Both dogs and cats twitch, part of the sleep process. Unlike humans, the twitch involves more than just the eyes. Some researchers think it might be a release of energy and not dreaming. Whatever, it is 100% natural.

Sounds like she is having some really great dreams. LOL My cats and dogs have all done that. It's completely normal. We had a lab that would literally run in her sleep. Sometimes, our cat that died in May, would attack your hand and arm if you tried to wake her up out of a really active dream, so I'd be careful of that. But it is completely normal, and nothing to be concerned with at all.

No, i wouldn't be concerned. She is probably dreaming away. My cats often twitch terribly when they sleep. Their muscles just go haywire. If you are concerned, try gently petting your cat to wake her up out of the sleep. She may even be having a nightmare. A bit of comfort can't hurt.

You shouldn't be worried. When they're sleeping, ( this applies to all pets ) they will twitch and make noises if they're dreaming. It's nothing to be worried about. But if it causes you a lot of stress, see a vet about your cat. Good Luck!

I've seen my cat do this too. She's probably dreaming. If she does it when awake, take her to the vet.
