Cats - September 2006

My Mom's cat, Tiger, is lost to us. My brother let him out in the middle of the night + forgot about him!!! My mother is DEVASTATED!! Which I understand, having 3 cats myself, who are my very spoiled children! I plan on getting her a sympathy card and maybe sending her the link to Rainbowbridge, I hear it is really nice!
But what I am looking for, is something to do, in his memory. To show my mom that his goodness goes on...
Like a friend of mine, when my dad died, donated to the Diabetes Foundation, in my dad's Name + Honor.
I want to do that for Tigs, I just don't know what to do. I need help, so here I am. Any help? Suggestions? Anything?
THANKS!
Richelle

If a tame rabbit moved into my house, would my two cats try to hurt it? The cats are, and always have been indoor cats, are both female, and only have back claws.

most of the recipes i've seen are too involved... has anyone a simple, do-able recipe for fresh meat or chicken food that i can give to two adult neutered males?

I'm thinking of ralph.

It has to go with the other names of my other cats, phoebe and murray.

he's grey/blue, fluffy short hair.

No cudlewuddle names, human type names if possible, and nothing crude, I have to introduce it to my parents.

The kitten just makes this awful meow noise all the time, day and night. We are wondering why he might do that and if there is any way to control it. He is adorable, but the noise is unbearable.

I think my cat got worms from my neighbor's new dog. Is there anything I can do without seeing a vet? They're not open on Sundays and I am so disgusted... you need some kind of prescription for worming medicine, right?

i was just sitting in my bed tonight and my cat hopped up on my lap and as i was petting her i realised a white looking rice grain type of thing wiggling out of her "butt" i immediatly placed her on the floor and washed my hands (i feel bad for doin that now but i was sceeved!) now im not stupid, i know it is some sort of worm, i looked in the poo and i cant really make anything out, one peice looks like has sall seed things in it, but i dont know if thats the litter, what kind of worms just come crawling out of a cats "butt"? and how can i treat it, i dont really have money for a vet. can you just take in a stool sample and get it checked for free?

He's been doing this since we got him from the original owner. I know people with cats, they've never done it, and either has my other cat. Is it something normal?

My neighbor has 2 kittens that just came to his house, they are about 5-6 months old and very skinny. He has not been feeding them, and he said he throws things at them trying to get them leave but I told him I would take them so I went down there with food and I did pet one of them just a little bit but everytime I would try to pick him up he would start to growl and then run away. Now I dont really want these cats but my neighbor has said he is going to shoot them if I cant get them in a few days. How can I get them to hurry up and tame down so I can get them, I am hoping I can find them a home or maybe keep one. Anybody have any suggestions on how I should do this? I've tried food and getting down on my hands and knees and talking sweet to them. Any suggestions would be very helpful thanks. Oh and we dont have any pet shelters around here that will come out cause we dont live in the city.

I've had cats all my life, up until I moved to a new, smaller apartment after my 17 year old fuzzy baby passed away. I haven't gotten another cat since for 2 reasons...first I wasn't ready. Now I'm ready and am considering the 2nd reason: my apartment is quite small (but does allow pets and I'd NEVER move somewhere that didn't so long as I had her) and the kitty wouldn't have access to the outdoors. She'd also be left home alone for at least 10 hours a day. On the other hand, if I were to get a rescue kitty that had always lived it's life in an apartment, it'd be better off to live with someone who loves her then spend time in a shelter where she may be put down. What do you guys think...should I or shouldn't I get a kitty from the shelter? I just want to be sure I'm making the decision that's not selfish but would be good for the cat as well. Thanks!
