i was just sitting in my bed tonight and my cat hopped up on my lap and as i was petting her i realised a white looking rice grain type of thing wiggling out of her "butt" i immediatly placed her on the floor and washed my hands (i feel bad for doin that now but i was sceeved!) now im not stupid, i know it is some sort of worm, i looked in the poo and i cant really make anything out, one peice looks like has sall seed things in it, but i dont know if thats the litter, what kind of worms just come crawling out of a cats "butt"? and how can i treat it, i dont really have money for a vet. can you just take in a stool sample and get it checked for free?

It sounds like Tapeworms. You can look up Tapeworms on the computer and see if that sounds or looks like what you cat has. Since you can't afford going to the vet, they do have wormer you can buy at the store.

Get you cat to the vet asap...They will probably want you to bring a stool sample. Did the worm look like a fly maggot. I had a dog that was outside a lot and I did not realize she had stool catching on her underside and flies starting nesting. The larva went through the dogs rectum and it wound up killing my dog. So, please do not think to long about this. Take the cat to the vet. take the worm to if you still have it.

Tapeworm. What you saw was a mature segment. I don't know whether there is any over-the-counter medicine for this or not. The customary procedure is to take a stool sample to the vet, but if you tell the vet what you saw, maybe they'll sell it to you without a lab test.

Worms are common for cats and dogs to have because they get into things outdoors, and eat unsavory things that we humans don't think about. Hartz makes a liquid wormer that costs about six bucks a bottle. You can get it at WalMart. One teaspoon every month to six weeks, and your cat will remain worm free. The bottle lasts a very long time, and don't worry about oding the cat or anything, it is not a strong medicine. There is just enough in there to clean out the worms in their gastric system.

It's tapeworms. Go to a vet or find someplace selling deworming pills. The pills you want to use are called "Drontal". Depending on your cats size, you should only need 1 pill.
They get tapeworms either from fleas or from eating dead rodents like mice that are already infected with them. So you will also need to either de-flea your cat or deworm her every 3 months or so.

Sounds like tapeworm. You can get worm pills at PetEdge here:http://www.petedge.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=2898&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=0&iSubCat=0&iSubSubCat=0&iProductID=2898&AS=1
Or you can take a stool sample to your cat's vet and they will tell give you what you need after they've tested the sample. Sometimes this is the better choice.

How hard is it to keep your cat wormed? One tablet, once every three months, and you won't find white rice looking things in your cats bum. it doesn't matter what type they are, the fact is, they shouldn't even be there. I think that is a form of animal cruelty when it is such a simple exercise to keep your cat healthy and comfortable. And cheap! Got to the vet and ask for a worming tablet, please. Drontal all wormer or something.
