We recently moved to Arizona my friend took care of my cat for 2 months in PA, i finally got her home with me now she wants to be with me all the time and as soon as i sit or lay down she is on top of me, also she loved being around my 2 yr old son but now she runs from him (which could just be him he has terrible 2's..lol) My question is how long will this last? She wakes me up in the middle of the night by rubbing her head on mine and meows when she isn't around me... Plz help..

I would say your poor kitty is showing "separation anxiety" cat-style. She's making sure that you will not be parted from her again - not if she can help it! So, she'll follow you around... meow outside the door when you are in the bathroom; sit on your lap when you are busy at the computer... wake you up just to get a rub and a pat... How long will this last? Depends on how quick your cat is to understand that you will never get rid of her. My advice is allow her the time to work this out for herself... act normal and try not to over-compensate for the cat's feelings of insecurity by catering to all of her picadilloes... she will just take advantage of all that attention and get addicted to it... that was the mistake I made with my own overly spoiled cat.

When we moved here to AZ it took our cats about 3 months to settle down. The move is very stressful on cats especially. Have patients, as far as the kid go this will take more time. After all 2 months to a cat is about 9months to a person.

I recently moved to Germany with my 2 cats and they have been acting the same way. We've been here for 4 months and they are still glued to my side!! I'm assuming it because they're on a different envirnment and they're seeking comfort from me. They get very upset when I leave the house, and SUPER excited when I come back home!! I think this is their way of dealing with change.

Cats unlike Dogs have one person masters(friend) She probably thought she had lost you and was having to deal with the loss. Cats have long memories It may be a while before she is done expressing the joy of being with you. The kid part NO ANIMAL is safe around a 2 year old. The kid is learning body parts and strength. poking eyes and making them blink is cool. And squeezing lovingly, Not trying to mean just courious, and sharing love.
