I have 4 cats. They seem to come to me.My oldest had a mother and my youngest had a mother(raised by their mommys)however the other 2 didnt. One was found at about 4 months (stray) and the other was abandoned and I raised the whole litter until 8 weeks.I bottled fed them and all. That one in particular is very sweet but doesnt like to be touched unless its just her belly(on her terms) so I think its because they didnt have the nurture of their mothers..What do you think?

Kittens are socialized by the mother. Nurturing behavior in a mother cat is of upmost importance in the future behavior of the kittens. I too am the pied piper of lost cats and homeless kittens and as much as we try to take their mother's place, the ones who were properly weaned are much friendlier and more touchable. We sometimes refer to our motherless cats as "autistic" acting, whereas our weaned kittens are all over us for love and affection. We don't love them any less, we just don't get to hug them as much. Keep up the important work you are doing, all living things need love.

i worked at a cat shelter for a long time, and bottle fed many litters without mothers and from my experience the kittens without mommy were MUCH MORE attached to people. i think perhaps that's just that particular cat's personality, for as you know, if you own four of them, they are all very different characters :)

I had a cat which I bottle fed and she is... weird. She is very moody (although Ive heard it is common in calicos like her) but she and I are best friends. I think cats have their own personalities that are somewhat affected by their childhoods.
Your cat is probably just shy. How long have you had her? She might just need to get to know you better

I extremely have a kitten. PLEASE TAKE MY advice. My guy gave me one from his clutter. She became 2 mon as quickly as I have been given her. SHE IS SO undesirable! She claws me and bites. I extremely have had her a pair of month now and she or he has been biting much less yet harder. If she stayed along with her mom longer her mom might have taught her extra...yet in spite of this her mom does not work together with people. in line with risk the mummy taught her to be undesirable ... the two way i think of 8 weeks is a lot too youthful! She is elementary with a thank you to apply the clutter field and each thing. She is purely too rowdy and that i might desire to yell for her to be attentive to to cease biting. If I seize her, she thinks i'm enjoying. She became not even weaned at 8 weeks! Grrr 12 weeks is the minimum

We have two cats, one raised & weened from her mother, she's very loving and friendly.
The other was found in the woods, she can be loving when she wants to. Most of the time she is mean to everyone in the house but me.
I think cats are more like people that we think, they defintly have their own personalitys and ideas about things.

there might be a differance about the way they respond to affection.
