he was very sick. he had vomit and throw up daily. he drank a whole lot of water. the vet couldn't find anything. eventually i did food experiments and got him stable on controlled portions of the science diet, mostly dry with very little wet chicken and liver. could he have been sick from the tainted food and just recovered since taken off? if so, will there be long term effects? perhaps a shortened life. should i have him looked at even though he's fine now?

Whenever one of my cats scratches me when we're playing, it immediatly begins to itch...does that reflect a minor allergy, or is that a typical symptom?

A friends cat had to be put down recently, vet said it was poisoning, so I would like to know if any others out there have had a sick cat after feeding it dry food. Does anyone know where ( in the San Diego area ) she could have the remaining food tested ?

Aren't they just wonderful cats? I wouldn;t want any other breed!
Mine plays fetch and tug-of-war (im gentle with him) with his elastic strings. He loves them for some reason. What do your Ocicats do?

One of my cats eats his food whole (dry food) which often results in him overeating and vomiting a lot. I've tried the hairball remedies which he loves and don't help as well as cutting his portion sizes so he doesn't eat so much at once. Nothing seems to work. Any tricks to making cats chew their food so they don't overeat?

My cat has some black spots on her bottom lip. They are very hard and are bumps. I took her into see my vet awhile ago, and my vet said she had acne. I had never heard of cats getting acne before. Should I start her on the hydrogen peroxide that he prescribed for her (put a little bit on the area 2 times a day)? I'm kind of worried of doing this. Any opinions would be thankful. Thanks ahead of time!!

If you were to offer your cat a choice of tuna fish, cream, pepperoni, small bits of hard cheese, or some other treat you know about, which would he/she meow for the loudest? If you put them all down on the floor at the same time, which would he/she eat first?

Okay, I have a water bowl by my cat's food dish. They eat the food, yes. But they don't drink the perfectly clean water dish right by it! Why would they do this? So sense they don't drink that they drink the dogs water, the left-over water from the tub, and even the toilet. They drink out of alllll them icky places and yet don't drink out of their wonderfully clean/cold water dish? Why?

If you want to know I have 2 cats. One female and one male and they share the food dish (which isn't a problem). I have 1 dog that is both in/outside type dog and she don't care that they drink out of her dish sometimes.
PLEASE... IT'S GETTING ANNOYING!!! lol

Thanx~

Our cat had her second litter just a week ago on Thursday, and the first and last kitten have been fighting with each other since day one. They'll scratch at each other for space.

And around the next day, we noticed the last kitten who fights with the first had opened one eye a little bit, and the next day it was even more open.

Isn't it too early for this? And if it is, isn't it bad?

My tabby cat had 2 kittens. A orange and white kitten, and a white kitten. I'm letting my kids keep them. My son is 5 yrs old and he's keeping the white kitten. I asked him what he was naming it, and he don't know. I like orginal names. Help me in helping my son name his kitten.

My family is considering buying a kitten. The one we like is only 7 weeks old and already separated from Mama. Isn't that too young? I always thought they were supposed to be at least 8 weeks old. Are there any long term effects on a cat as a result of leaving its mother too soon?

The skin is stretched out and seems to be a chunk of extra skin that's streched out from the chewing. He seems sensitive when I touch it (I wanted to take a look at it to see if it was oozing or bleeding, which it wasn't). He seems to not want to chew his paw anymore but what happens now?

Ok since there has been a lot of you guys writing about Declawing and not declawing. If you had a CHOICE TO declaw a cat give me the reason. And the people that had a CHOICE OF NOT DECLAWING your cat give me a reason. I will be making a vote on who gives me the answer i am looking for because I myself made that CHOICE to have my cat declawed because I HAD NO CHOICE.

If so, did it work to relieve your cat's obsessive compulsive tendencies to groom excessively & pull fur? I thought I'd try some on my Aby.

we've always had cats in our household. one of my two cats died 2 years ago, and i've been gently asking my mother for permission to get another cat ever since. she insists that one cat gives her enough trouble (my mum is prone to overreaction and can be very irrational at times!), despite her being able to cope fine before our other cat died. i've gone from gently asking to drunken arguments, and eventually she proclaimed that if i got another cat she would leave the family. does anyone have any advice as to how to reason successfully with her? (btw i'm 25, not a kid :-P and before you ask, i live at home still because i'm disabled.)
